Job Summary
Provides technical leadership for knowledge management and external visibility across large, multi-country global health projects in global health security, emergency and outbreak response, HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, polio, maternal, newborn, and child health, and health systems strengthening. Develops and implements activities to facilitate knowledge sharing and learning. Produces strategic messaging and high-quality technical products for donor, government, and partner organization audiences to communicate project achievements, innovations, and impact. Leads planning and execution of webinars, conference sessions, and technical events. Ensures technical accuracy, consistency, and adherence to donor branding and marking requirements and organizational standards across products. Works collaboratively with technical teams, country offices, and partners to capture, synthesize, and disseminate evidence, lessons learned, and best practices that strengthen program performance and promote the use of knowledge across projects. Strong project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential; experience with social media, photography, graphic design, and visual communications is desirable.
Technical Requirements:
- Provide leadership in knowledge management, external visibility, and strategic engagement related to one or more of the following technical areas: global health security; outbreak and emergency response; HIV; tuberculosis; malaria; polio; maternal, newborn and child health and nutrition; and health systems strengthening.
- Demonstrates good judgment in selecting approaches and tools to facilitate identification and communication of lessons learned, best practices, and innovations and delivering high-quality deliverables and events, with some supervision.
- Coordinates with other members of the technical teams, country office staff and Global Communications.
Project Design and Implementation:
- Develops and maintains processes, tools, and approaches that promote knowledge sharing, collaboration, and cross-country learning across large, multi-country projects.
- Facilitates the identification, documentation, synthesis, and dissemination of lessons learned, best practices, innovations, and project achievements across countries and technical areas.
- Leads the planning and implementation of webinars, learning events, technical exchanges, conference sessions, and other knowledge-sharing activities that support project and organizational objectives.
- Creates knowledge management portion of the project plan, within the given resource and financial constraints
- Coordinates requests from CO (Country Office) for technical assistance
- Leads the design, development, planning, and execution of knowledge products and knowledge exchange events
- Ensures technical implementation is consistent with best practices in the industry / subject and meet client / funder contractual obligations
- May supervise junior technical staff members, sub-contractors, consultants, and others implementing technical project work
- Develops tools for the design and implementation of knowledge management activities
- Track delivery of project outputs
Client/Funder Support:
- Represents the organization and / or Institute to external entities at professional meetings and conferences.
- Maintains collaborative relationships with donor/client organizations, relevant government agencies, bilateral and other NGOs and consistently maintained and viewed as a knowledgeable resource in their technical area.
- Continually maintains a dialogue and technical exchange with field counterparts and technical staff members of implementing partners.
- Participate in client / funder meetings and draft reports/presentations.
Capacity Strengthening:
- Develops and implements activities to strengthen the knowledge management capacity of country office staff.
- May supervise or provide technical guidance to staff members locally and in the region.
Project/Program Reporting:
- Develops products, including success stories, technical briefs, case studies, lessons learned documents, fact sheets, presentations, and other materials that support program learning and dissemination.
- Contributes to the development of digital and visual knowledge products, including social media content, photography, data visualization, graphic design, and multimedia materials, as needed.
- Synthesizes technical information and evidence from multiple sources into concise, audience-appropriate products for donors, partners, government stakeholders, and project teams.
- Helps develop and review work plans.
- Serves as the primary author for technical deliverables (e.g., reports, presentations, and manuscripts).
- Gathers and aggregates data to provide a summary / high level overview.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensures technical deliverables are consistent with best practices in the industry / subject and meet client / funder contractual obligations, including branding and marking requirements. Puts deliverables through required review and clearance processes.
- Identifies areas for improved efficiency or effectiveness within prescribed parameters, and institutes enhancements to procedures.
Applied Knowledge & Skills
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex technical information, evidence, and lessons learned into clear, strategic, actionable messages and products, with the ability to tailor products for technical, donor, program, and public audiences.
- Experience leading or supporting technical dissemination activities, visibility, and strategic engagement activities including webinars, conferences, stakeholder engagements, and learning events.
- Knowledge of donor branding and marking requirements, organizational style standards, and quality assurance processes for technical and public-facing products.
- Conducts routine coordination with employees and consultants, on-site and in the field.
- Strong knowledge and skills in a specific technical area/function and general understanding of concepts and principles of related technical areas/functions.
- Solid knowledge of standards for knowledge management, operational processes and procedures, work, and task flow.
- Has the ability to manage projects, set realistic priorities, and plan for successful implementation of activities.
- Excellent writing, editing, storytelling, content and message development, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with developing social media content, photography, videos, infographics, data visualization, graphic design, and multimedia materials, as needed.
- Ability to manage their own work to job and performance standards.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
- Proficiency in French desired. Proficiency in other languages a plus.
Education
- Master’s Degree or International Equivalent in Knowledge/Information Services, Communications, Education, Environment, Health, Behavioral, Life/Social Sciences International Development, Human Development or Related Field.
- Project Management (PM) Certification preferred.
Experience
- Typically requires 8+ years of relevant experience in global health, international development, or a related field.
- Documented experience supporting large, complex, multi-country projects or programs.
- Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) or government agency.

- Ability to spend long hours looking at a computer screen and doing repetitive work on a keyboard.
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Ability to lift 5 lbs.
Technology to be Used
- Personal Computer, Microsoft Office 365 (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Skype/TEAMS, e- mail). Proficiency in Skills in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Sprout Social, Muck Rack, or other creative software/applications a plus.
Travel Requirements
The expected US Based hiring salary range for this role is listed below. Candidates FHI 360 pay ranges represent national averages that vary by geographic location. When determining an offer amount, FHI 360 factors in multiple considerations, including but not limited to: relevant years of experience and education possessed by the applicant, internal equity, business sector, and budget. For internal candidates, salary placement will also follow FHI 360’s current promotional increase guidelines. Final compensation will be determined in accordance with applicable law and FHI 360 policy.
Base salary is only one component of our offer. FHI 360 contributes 7% of monthly base pay to a money purchase pension plan account. Additionally, all US based staff working full-time, which is calculated at 40 hours/week, receive 18 days of paid vacation per year, 12 sick days per year, and 11 holidays per year. Paid time off is reduced pro rata for employees working less than a full-time schedule.
US Based Hiring Salary Range: 89,000 - 120,000 USD annually
