As the Technical Advisor, you will provide subject matter expertise to support capability development, engineering activities, and technical decision-making throughout the project lifecycle. Your contribution will be instrumental in supporting the standardisation and modernisation of the Australian Defence Force's Protected Mobility fleet, including the Bushmaster, Hawkei, and Protected Medium and Heavy Capability (PMHC) vehicle platforms, ensuring the successful integration of capability enhancements across lethality, survivability, connectivity, and enabling systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical advice and support across design, planning, capability development, integration, and engineering change activities.
  • Support the planning, conduct, and reporting of testing, trials, investigations, and validation activities for equipment and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Defence Technical Regulatory Framework (TRF) requirements and complete configuration management actions within CMT-L and ERP systems.
  • Develop, maintain, and update technical documentation and artefacts, including CES, NTIs, UHBs, EMEIs, ILSIs, and other approved technical publications.
  • Support defect identification, investigation, and resolution activities, including the management and processing of Reports on Defective or Unsatisfactory Materiel (RODUMs).
  • Support Commonwealth acceptance, verification, validation, and capability introduction activities to achieve successful capability transition and operational deployment.
  • Contribute to engineering review boards, technical working groups, configuration control boards, and system safety forums.
  • Liaise with ADF stakeholders, Capability Managers, CASG representatives, industry partners, and suppliers to resolve technical issues and respond to end-user enquiries.
  • Contribute to the assessment, evaluation, and introduction of new and replacement capabilities, including technical risk and suitability assessments.

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

  • Trade or tertiary qualification in a relevant technical discipline (preferably Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Communications, or C4I).
  • Minimum four (4) years' experience performing technical or engineering support functions within the Defence sector or a comparable complex technical environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Defence communications systems, vehicle platforms, or integrated capability systems; systems integration experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience developing, reviewing, and maintaining Defence technical publications and engineering documentation is highly desirable.
  • Sound understanding of Defence engineering, maintenance, configuration management, and technical regulatory environments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across Commonwealth, ADF, and industry teams.
  • Hold and maintain an NV1 Defence Security Clearance and meet applicable ITAR requirements.

Why you’ll enjoy being part of our team:
