Job Description

Whakatakoto te tūāpapa - Laying the foundation

At Contact Energy, our purpose is simple, putting our energy where it matters. We are on a journey to lead Aotearoa toward a lower carbon future, supporting our customers and communities to decarbonise sustainably. Our hydro generation assets play a critical role in this, providing flexible, renewable energy that helps keep the lights on while the country transitions to a more sustainable energy system.

Across our South Island hydro scheme, including Hawea, Clyde and Roxburgh, our teams are trusted to operate and continuously improve some of New Zealand’s most important infrastructure. This Technical Administrator role sits right at the heart of that, ensuring the systems, drawings and technical information that underpin safe and efficient operations are accurate, accessible and future ready.

Te āhua o te tūranga I The nature of the role

This is a role where your attention to detail and curiosity really come to life. Preferably located in Clyde, you will work closely with our hydro crews, engineers and asset teams, supporting everything from managing drawing systems and CAD libraries through to keeping critical plant data and documentation up to date. Your work ensures the team has the information they need, when they need it, to make confident operational decisions.

Day to day, you will be improving and maintaining systems like drawing repositories, CAD standards and plant labelling, while also contributing to documentation, project QA and change management processes. You will get out on site, collaborate with teams across our hydro assets, and identify smarter ways of working. It is a role with real variety, where your organisation and technical skills help keep things running smoothly and safely.

Qualifications

Ko wai koe | About you

You are someone who takes pride in getting the details right and enjoys bringing structure to complex information. You build strong relationships, communicate clearly, and take ownership of your work. You are just as comfortable working independently as you are pitching in with the wider team, and you are always looking for ways to improve systems and processes.

Here are a few things that will set you up for success:

Must have:

  • Strong computer literacy and confidence working with technical systems
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data
  • Ability to manage your workload, meet deadlines and work autonomously
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work with a range of stakeholders

Nice to have:

  • Experience using CAD systems or technical drawing tools
  • Exposure to SAP or similar asset management systems
  • Experience supporting projects or working in an engineering or industrial environment
  • Knowledge of document control, drawing standards or technical libraries

If you do not tick every box, that is okay. If you are organised, curious, and motivated to learn, we would still love to hear from you.
