Job Description

Power the party from behind the scenes! Join our Tech Support team and help deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot the technology that brings the festival to life.
  • These full-time, temporary positions run between July 20-27 on the festival site near Salmo, BC.

  • We also have a longer-term Tech Assistant position available on this team for the right candidate, which would start ASAP and run until August. Please note your interest/availability for this role when applying.

The Tech Support position will play a crucial role within the Tech Department, providing essential support to SMF staff with technical issues. This role involves being on standby to respond to tech service calls, troubleshooting and documenting issues, and assisting in the installation and maintenance of hardware and cables. The Tech Support position works closely with the Tech Assistant and Supervisor, as well as the Tech Director, to ensure the smooth operation of technology across the festival.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Be on standby to assist SMF staff with technical issues, ready to be deployed to tech service calls.

  • Troubleshoot and document technical issues, reporting them to management.

  • Assist the Tech Manager and Supervisor with various tasks as required.

  • Ensure hours worked are documented, signing in and out with the Supervisor.

  • Attend daily tailgate meetings with the supervisor at the beginning of each shift.

  • Assist the SMF team with tech issues in a timely fashion.

  • Scrutinize systems for flaws and areas to improve efficiency.

  • Report any discrepancies, potential issues, or hazards to the Supervisor immediately and assist in the remedy.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Software experience with all relevant computer platforms.

  • Computer hardware experience (printers, laptops, routers, network switches, etc.).

  • Festival experience is an asset.

  • Experience working in Customer Service is an asset.

  • Generally interested in technology.

  • Some type of hardware or software certification or many years of experience.

  • Lifelong passion for technology.

  • Excellent communicator, able to interact effectively with all levels of the chain of command.

  • Courteous, competent, and persuasive with a proven ability to handle stressful situations.

  • Ability to foresee and troubleshoot potential issues, making recommendations to increase efficiency.

  • Flexible and able to respond to changes in working conditions.

  • Comfortable working early mornings or late nights, and outdoors in potentially unfavorable weather while maintaining a positive demeanor.

  • Patient performing repetitive tasks.

  • Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism at all times when conducting operations and interacting with patrons.

  • Maintains awareness of the environment, a sense of responsibility for fellow crew members, and the company image.

  • Grounded and effective in crisis management, adept at putting out fires and addressing urgent issues.

  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse workspace without personal judgments or bias.

Pay Rate:
  • Short-term Tech Support roles: $19.50 per hour

  • Longer-term Tech Assistant role: $19.50-$25 per hour based on experience.
