At Nueces Bay Power station is a 2x1 Combined Cycle plant and Barney Davis Power station is a 2x1 Combined Cycle plant and a conventional steam Boiler/Turbine/Generator, the Power Plant OMT operates, performs regular preventive maintenance, troubleshoots, tests, and makes rounds taking regular readings on all power plant equipment and systems, with primary responsibilities of operation of the water pretreatment and cooling water systems of the plant. Working 12 hr shift with the rest of the Operations team, the Power Plant OMT serves as a first responder to operational events and/or disruptions in the power plant and resolves issues within the Technician’s technical skillset. In doing so, the Power Plant OMT – provides safety and environmental stewardship, ensures compliance with all applicable Federal and State regulations and plant procedures and keeps all equipment in optimum operating condition. The Power Plant OMT develops and participates in continuous improvement of operating procedures for plant equipment to ensure consistent and safe operation. Other valuable skills in the area of administration, mechanical, instrumentation and control, and/or electrical maintenance skills are also required.
