Core Description

Responsible to code and debug new software products in alignment with BCX’s standards and work on less complex projects or modules of projects.

Key Deliverables / Primary Functions

• Provide applications support by means of broad area competence, investigates problems and other requests for support and determines appropriate actions to take.
• Ensure all work is performed, documented in accordance with required standards, methods and procedures.
• Participate in client meetings, assist in presenting issues and solutions
• Use database management tools to investigate, diagnose and resolve database problems in accordance with service level agreements, referring to database users and suppliers as and when necessary.
• Execute routine configuration/installation, reconfiguration of database and related products in alignment with BCX’s standards for software installations.
• Respond to instructions, follow agreed plans to install or remove items of software (typically those requiring greatest expertise in installation) and find the necessary items.
• Participate in the configuration of software and equipment for systems testing of platform specific versions of one or more software products with minimum supervision.
• Design large and/or complex programs, program modifications from supplied specifications using agreed standards & tools, to achieve a well-engineered result.
• Report on work executed and contribute significant sections of material that is of publication quality.
• Interpret and execute complex test plans using agreed methods and standards.
• Document test failures and successes compared with pre-defined criteria, in accordance with agreed standards.

NQF 4: Grade 12 National Diploma

Additional Education -Preferred /Advantage

2 years software development experience
