What You Will Do

  • Write and ship high-quality production code across backend systems and core product infrastructure, ensuring reliability and scalability.
  • Mentor, manage, and scale a distributed team of engineers, fostering individual growth and enhancing organizational capability.
  • Lead technical design and architecture decisions, conducting rigorous code reviews to maintain high standards.
  • Prototype and scale evaluation frameworks, benchmarks, and reinforcement learning environments to support product development.
  • Establish engineering guardrails that facilitate rapid growth while maintaining system stability.
  • Hire and onboard top-tier engineering talent across geographies efficiently and effectively.
  • Coordinate cross-functional projects with product, data, and operations teams to achieve high-impact results.

Ideal Candidate Background

  • 6–10 years of backend engineering experience, specifically with Python/Django or a comparable stack, with a proven track record of shipping production code at scale.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and scaling engineering teams while actively contributing as an individual contributor.
  • Strong ability to balance technical depth with business priorities in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
  • Proven coaching skills for both individual contributors and engineering managers, with measurable impacts on team performance.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts into clear business terms for non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with LLM internals, fine-tuning, and evaluation benchmarks.
  • Experience building and managing distributed engineering teams across multiple geographies.
  • Prior startup or founding experience at a high-growth company.
