Yes, you can! That's our attitude towards our work, ambitions, ideas, and relationships. We at Luminor believe that anyone has the potential to achieve big things and encourage everyone to achieve them, professionally and personally.
Whoever you are and whatever your role is, with Luminor, you will get a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build a local banking champion.
We are looking for a Tech Lead (Java) to play a key role in the design and delivery of new corporate lending ecosystem. The position combines strong technical leadership with hands‑ on contribution.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership, likes to participate in making architectural decisions and defining engineering standards, as well as guiding and supporting other team members in execution phase. You are a good match if you are also not afraid to roll up your sleeves and dive into complicated problems when others get stuck, or participate in everyday engineering tasks to get things done!
You will join a team of experienced engineers and contribute to building pan-Baltic systems that are business‑ critical, in a domain where correctness, stability, and scalability truly matter.
Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and engineering pride in Corporate Lending technology team.
Technically lead and mentor a team of Java developers, perform code reviews, define coding standards, and facilitate sharing the best practices.
Represent the Corporate Lending domain in cross‑ team architectural discussions. Lead technical design discussions and help to make pragmatic trade‑ offs between business needs, risk, and long‑ term sustainability.
Stay hands‑ on where it matters most, be it developing new features, investigating complex technical issues, or doing a deep dive into why a legacy system process failed.
Help make sensible decisions, needed to keep the legacy systems “lights on” while investing most of the efforts into getting the new ecosystem ready.
Minimum of 5 years of practical experience as a full stack engineer developing and deploying Java applications.
At least 2 years of experience as a Tech Lead, Solution Architect, or senior Java engineer working with complex highly integrated systems.
Excellent knowledge of Java, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.
Solid hands‑ on experience with microservice‑ based architectures and API‑ driven systems.
A pragmatic mindset – you care about clean, maintainable solutions rather than theoretical perfection.
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑ technical stakeholders.
Experience in banking, lending, or other highly regulated domains is an advantage.
Fluent English in spoken and written communication due to working on a Pan-Baltic level.
Back-end: Java 21+(LTS), Spring Boot / Spring Framework; microservices architecture
Front-end: React and Svelte
APIs & integration: REST APIs, event-driven integration (Kafka)
Data: relational databases (PostgreSQL), caching (Redis)

You'll have the chance to play a key technical leadership role in a complex and meaningful business domain, and work side-by-side with an experienced technology delivery team.
Flexibility. Flexible working hours, Hybrid work, and the possibility to work from anywhere in the EU, Iceland, Switzerland, and the UK (in total 90 days per year)
