Working as a Lifeguard is an opportunity to make a real difference in your community. Lifeguards play a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming environment for our customers and are essential to the smooth and successful operation of our aquatic facilities.
Our lifeguards are observant, patient, and people‑focused. With strong situational awareness and sound judgement, they have the confidence to respond quickly, responsibly, and calmly to any situation, helping ensure everyone can enjoy our facilities safely.

We are looking for people who are strong swimmers, dedicated to helping others. To work as a pool lifeguard in New Zealand, you will need to hold a Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate (PLPC).
The first step in becoming a lifeguard for Auckland Council is to be able to pass this swim test. Please only apply for this position if you feel you can:
