Here at Auckland Council, our leisure centres play a key role in achieving our goal of getting Auckland to be the most active city in the world. And right now, we’re looking for part-time Learn to Swim Team Instructors join our Pool and Leisure Centre teams across Auckland to help achieve that goal!
Based at Birkenhead Pool and Leisure Centre, this is a fantastic job where you can gain a formal qualification teaching people the basic principles of how to swim, maintaining a fun, caring and safe environment for customers and visitors - we'll provide the training you need to succeed in the role.
It is a 8-hour permanent part time role. Shifts below:
You will be required to attend the following training dates. Monday to Friday at West Wave, 8am-4pm:
7th April - 9th April & 12th April - 17th April 2026
Our centre operates 7 days a week from 5:30am to 9:30pm, reliability, and commitment to working early, late and weekend shifts are crucial.
He kōrero mōu: About you
You are a great swimmer and instructor, have a love of water, have exceptional customer service skills, and can communicate well with members of the public. Just a passion to work with our diverse community while also making a difference.
If you do have a recognised swim teacher qualification or previous experience as a Swimming Instructor, that would be fantastic! However, we will provide full, comprehensive training. You must also be willing to complete First Aid training
