Join Downer’s Energy & Utilities team and play a hands-on role maintaining and supporting critical gas network infrastructure across Queensland.

As a Team Member based in Cairns, you'll work alongside experienced Team Leaders and Supervisors to deliver essential maintenance, construction, repair and emergency response services across public and embedded gas networks.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting with maintenance, repair, excavation, reinstatement and meter works across gas network assets.
• Operating and maintaining vehicles, plant, tools and specialised equipment.
• Supporting emergency response and make-safe activities when required.
• Setting up traffic management and maintaining safe work sites.
• Reading plans, maps and work instructions to support field operations.
• Completing job records, timesheets, photographs and close-out documentation accurately.
• Providing professional customer service when interacting with customers, property owners and stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking reliable, safety-focused team players who enjoy practical, hands-on work and are committed to delivering quality outcomes.

Ideally, you will have:

• Experience in utilities, civil construction, gas operations, plumbing, maintenance or similar field-based industries.
• A strong commitment to safety and safe work practices.
• A White Card and the ability to work in a field-based environment.
• A manual driver's licence (desirable).
• Certificate II in Gas Operations, or willingness to undertake industry training and development.
• The ability to follow instructions, learn new skills and work effectively as part of a team.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, plant or construction equipment (desirable).
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
