Reporting to the Service Manager, you will be responsible for the area delivery of multi-trade construction works and fulfil a general management role across Environment and Building Services. The post will support the delivery of Major Works programmes.

• lead, support and develop operational employees to deliver agreed standards, objectives and targets

• plan multi-trade construction activity and deploy employees, contractors, fleet, plant and equipment

• monitor revenue and capital budgets, take corrective action and report to senior management

• manage health and safety, including risk assessments, COSHH and personal protective equipment requirements

• monitor performance, productivity, quality and customer satisfaction and implement improvements

• work with clients, contractors and partners to resolve issues and maintain service delivery

• manage complaints in line with Council procedures

• support workforce planning, recruitment, performance management and skills development

• interpret specifications, plans and drawings to identify project and resource requirements

• provide operational and technical advice and represent the service at meetings

• The role requires regular travel across Fife to attend operational sites and meetings

The Person

You must have:

• a CMI Level 4, SVQ Level 4, HND in a construction management-related subject, or equivalent qualification

• significant management experience in a multi-trade construction service or another relevant field

• experience of leading teams, managing performance and developing employees

• budget and financial management skills

• knowledge and experience of health and safety in a multi-function construction environment

• knowledge and experience of multi-trade construction management

• experience of managing corporate procedures, partnership working and effective delegation

• communication, influencing and negotiating skills, including advising, listening and managing conflict

• an understanding of relevant professional and technical standards and national developments

• the ability to travel throughout Fife

• A CMI Level 5, SVQ Level 5 or Diploma in a construction management-related subject is desirable.

Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain a Level 2 Disclosure with PVG Scheme membership. This will be actioned as part of your pre-employment checks.
