Salary Range: Band 8 $150,432 + $162,791 Superannuation

(Remuneration stated is for the full-time positions)

Work type: Temporary Full-time

Duration: 12 months (Extension/s thereafter but not guaranteed).

City Planning and Economic Development Services is responsible for supporting local businesses, facilitating economic growth, planning for sustainable growth and delivering permitting services.

Our Branch

Development Services facilitates high-quality, sustainable development outcomes for Brisbane, through efficient and professional development assessment and management processes, systems and practices.

The Role

The Team Manager role works in collaboration with other areas of Council, leads and manages a team to deliver policy and projects to shape Brisbane to be liveable, vibrant, prosperous, connected, green and sustainable.

The successful candidate will provide leadership, advice and innovation in the review, development and implementation of policy, including statutory and non-statutory initiatives. They will lead the project management and work allocation processes to support the delivery of project outcomes and to ensure they are completed on time, to budget and agreed standards. They will also build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external customers, including other teams, branches and external stakeholders.

You must be capable of making timely and effective decisions in a complex and legislative service environment as well as have the ability to develop our highly motivated workforce by facilitating career planning, ongoing professional development and business rotational opportunities.

To be successful you will have:

  • ability to lead in line with Council’s leadership behaviours and values to achieve strong results
  • strong experience delivering policies and projects in planning, environment, sustainability, engineering or asset management
  • proven experience leading a customer‑focused approach in a large or complex organisation
  • strong ability to build relationships, influence others and make decisions in complex situations
  • high‑level skills in negotiation, influencing and resolving issues between different parties
  • excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex or technical information clearly.
