About the role

This pivotal role is responsible for leading the Northern Inland Branch Visitor Experience Program for NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service. The position oversees the delivery of high-quality visitor services, customer experience initiatives, and tourism operations across the branch.

The Northern Inland Branch offers an extraordinary platform for visitor experience leadership, with 173 parks and reserves, two visitor centres, campgrounds, accommodation, wilderness huts, walks, lookouts, guided tours, community events and some of NSW’s most memorable natural and cultural experiences. These include World Heritage-listed rainforest areas, the Pilliga forest reserves, Ramsar-listed wetlands, declared wilderness, significant Aboriginal joint management arrangements and Warrumbungle National Park, Australia’s first International Dark Sky Park.

Key responsibilities include the direct supervision of the Visitor Centre Supervisor and management of the operations and customer service delivery of two visitor centres, as well as the Discovery guided tour program. The Team Leader Visitor Experience provides strategic leadership, expert advice, and capability development to operational staff, supporting the consistent delivery of exceptional visitor experiences.

The role also contributes to the development and implementation of visitor experience initiatives, interpretation, marketing activities and tourism products that strengthen visitor engagement and showcase the natural and cultural values of our parks. You will support operational teams to manage accommodation and camping experiences and coordinate requests relating to filming, commercial tours and special events.

Success in this role will depend on your ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively with operational staff, Aboriginal communities, tourism organisations, local government, commercial operators and community stakeholders to deliver meaningful and sustainable visitor experiences.

About You

We are looking for an energetic and collaborative leader who is passionate about creating outstanding visitor experiences in protected areas. You will bring demonstrated experience in tourism, visitor services, visitor centre operations, marketing or experience development, with the ability to lead people, set clear priorities, solve problems and turn great ideas into practical outcomes.

You will be comfortable working across a geographically diverse branch and building strong relationships with teams, communities and partners to deliver services that are inclusive, environmentally sustainable and commercially aware. Essential requirements

• Demonstrated expertise in the management and delivery of visitor experience strategies and services including experience development, marketing and consumer communications, distribution and delivery of on-the ground visitor services.
• Current NSW Driver’s Licence
• Ability to work after hours, including weekends, as required.
