Role: Team Leader Residential

Salary: upto £37,833 per annum plus £700 on call allowance

Location: London Borough of Hackney

Contract/Hours: Full time – 37 hours a week

A bit about our new homes.

We are recruiting Team Leader’s for 2 new homes one in London Fields, Hackney, which will provide a home for two young people and one in Stamford Hill that will provide a home for 4 young people.

Action for Children are working in close partnership with the London Borough of Hackney to develop and run two new therapeutic children’s homes within the borough.

This exciting new development will offer stable, safe, and loving homes which enable children and young people to stay in Hackney, helping them to grow up supported and happy, with the chance to maintain and build on the relationships that matter to them the most.

These are not a children’s homes, but homes that belong to our children.

What you do could make a difference

This is much more than a Team Leader role – you will be part of a team developing and launching of our children’s new home. We want you to help to build the team and put everything in place to lay a sound foundation and secure OFSTED registration.  

Through innovative care and support, we will provide a safe, nurturing environment for children, in the London Borough of Hackney.   

Working closely with the Registered Manager, you’ll deputise in their absence and lead a team of Residential Support Workers, setting the tone for a positive, supportive, and child-centred home. You’ll help create a space that feels safe, fun, and welcoming, while consistently maintaining high standards of care and practice.

How you'll help to create brighter futures:

As a Team Leader you will work with the Registered Manager to ensure smooth day to day running of the home as part of a multi-disciplinary team ensuring that the young people living with us are in the safe and supporting environment required to nurture their needs.

Leading shifts and supervising staff
Link working with young people.
Developing care plans and identifying agreed outcomes.
Responsible for the safeguarding of young people.
Being an advocate for the wellbeing of the young people who live with us.

In this role, you'll contribute to our vision of ensuring safe and happy childhoods. To achieve that real change to vulnerable children, young people and families, there'll be certain qualities that you will have.

Level 3 QCF Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is essential.
We’re looking for someone who will support Hackney’s Children and Families Service and Action for Children’s commitment to eradicating systemic racism, discrimination, injustice, making anti-racism a foundation of their practice.
You will understand the cultural, societal and ideological forces that shape a child’s development.
