Job Description

  • Team Leader Regulatory Engineering based in Albany
  • Hybrid working model with flexible working options
  • Salary will be $130,000 to $155,000 + KiwiSaver contribution

Regulatory Engineering supports the development and traffic engineering needs of Auckland Council's Building and Resource Consents teams and our asset owners to ensure efficient land development, intensification and housing production is in line with the Resource Management Act, Building Act, Local Government Act, and council's infrastructure standards.

He angitūtanga: The opportunity

As a Team Leader within Regulatory Engineering, you will manage a team of development engineers who are responsible for the accurate provision of technical advice on asset approval, building consents and resource consents and compliance activities. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the Team Leader will provide leadership, training, and direction to the team, ensure that process and performance is maintained within the team through the management, control and monitoring of work volumes and drive the overall strategic direction for regulatory engineering within the unit to ensure they achieve statutory and customer targets.

You are someone with sound experience in the regulatory field with a strong focus on customer-centric delivery and providing first-rate customer service. As a leader, you can set clear expectations to empower staff to consistently provide customer friendly service.

You are someone who enjoys working in a collaborative team environment and you are passionate about building a future for Auckland.

To be successful in this role, you will have, a tertiary qualification in civil or environmental engineering. You have a sound understanding and knowledge of New Zealand Building legislation and standards. A broader knowledge of land development and associated regulation (such as the Resource Management Act) is preferred. An ability to manage a significant budget and establish and utilise effective systems and processes to monitor financial performance. Highly developed interpersonal and relationship skills will be the key to this role.

A current Full NZ driver’s license is also required.
