The Operations Unit receive and process applications to Scotland’s Redress Scheme, supporting survivors and other applicants up to the point when their application is passed to Redress Scotland for a determination. This work provides challenge and opportunity for those with an interest in contributing to an area where you can make a very real difference to the lives of those who have suffered historical child abuse in Scotland.
Team Leaders within the unit are responsible for providing leadership, support and coaching to a team of case workers who are the first point of contact for survivors to the scheme.The role requires strong leadership and ability to adapt quickly to change, whilst maintaining and delivering a quality service. Team Leaders will provide support to the Unit Head, and Deputy Unit Head of Operations, to deliver a range of strategic objectives.
The work is personally and professionally rewarding but can also be challenging. We recognise working with this subject matter is not for everyone. We are looking for colleagues with strong interpersonal skills, capable of handling sensitive and challenging information and able to build resilience across the team.
There will be bespoke professional support covering resilience and self-care available for all staff in these roles.
Responsibilities
Lead, coach and support a team of operational case workers within the Redress Division, to successfully deliver a professional, trauma informed and supportive service to survivors and their next of kin
Lead and support team members personal development through quality assurance, regular caseload review and monthly conversations, building team resilience and ensuring staff feel supported.
Support the Head and Deputy Head of Operations to embed a survivor centred approach to the culture of the unit with key values of respect, dignity and compassion, whilst also cultivating a culture of continuous improvement.
Work collaboratively with colleagues across the division, wider Scottish Government and key external stakeholders including Redress Scotland and Legal representatives to build strong and effective working relationships and shared objectives.
Contribute to the development and implementation of new ways of working, embracing change and supporting continuous improvement.

Working Pattern
These posts are based in Edinburgh (VQ).Please note that these posts will be in line with the current hybrid policy with a requirement for attendance in the office 2 days per week however, this will only be implemented following a period of initial office based training.
These are permanent posts and are available as a full-time role. Staff with alternative working patterns are also invited to apply. We will assess proposed working patterns against the business requirements for this post.
