Ngwala Willumbong is a leading provider of culturally safe and effective support services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We are committed to supporting individuals affected by alcohol and other drug misuse, providing them with pathways to recovery through holistic and culturally appropriate rehabilitation programs.

About the Role:

The key role of the Team Leader role is to support the daily function and running of the SUC, including rostering, staff support, stock support In collaborating with the PIR Program Manager and Shift Leader Team Leader, the Assertive Outreach Team Leader will ensure that the team delivers a high standard of outreach services to clients through a strengths-based approach, meets their performance targets, and operates within the program budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the daily function of the Metro Sobering Up Centre (SUC)
  • Provide supervision and support to the Metro PIR nurses and health workers
  • Support the functions of rostering, Employment Hero/Employment Innovations and other
    requirements regarding staff rostering.
  • Support the implementation of PIR events for community.
  • Be available for on-call afterhours when needed. (Minimum 1 week per month/ Maximum 2 weeks per month)
  • Maintaining and ordering supplies as required for the centre.
  • Monitor and/or provide one on one supervision to staff.
  • Support PIR Metro Programs Manager with any relevant administrative tasks.
  • Comply with Ngwala’s administrative and personnel requirements
  • Attend relevant internal meetings and external meetings.
  • Report all incidents or injuries to the Metro Rehab Manager
  • Be respectful to others and escalate issues in accordance with Ngala's grievance policy.

Skills & Experience:

  • Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs, or related field (Desirable)
  • Experience working with AOD and/or dual diagnosis community members including a willingness to participate in relevant training.
  • Ability to provide leadership and line management supervision to a team of specialist
    workers.
  • Experience in maintaining records, data collection and reporting.
  • Good organization and time management skills
  • Experience in group facilitation.
  • Deep understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torre Strait Islander cultures.
  • General proficiency with computer skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Current Victorian driver's license
  • National Police Certificate (not older than 3 months)
  • Victorian Employment Working with Children Check
