About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi

This is an opportunity to lead a specialist team delivering life-changing outcomes for New Zealanders. As Team Leader Mental Injury, you will provide leadership, coaching and guidance to a team of Recovery Partners who support clients with complex mental injury claims, including those associated with highly sensitive and traumatic experiences.

You will foster a culture of care, accountability and continuous improvement, enabling your team to deliver exceptional recovery experiences and achieve positive outcomes for clients. Through your leadership, you will help ensure people receive the support they need to navigate challenging circumstances while contributing to keeping Kiwis safe at work, at home, and everywhere in between.

This is meaningful work with real impact. You'll be leading a team that supports clients through some of the most difficult moments in their lives, helping them progress on their recovery journey with dignity, compassion and confidence.

The role comes with both challenge and purpose. You will be exposed to distressing situations, complex client needs and confronting life experiences. To be successful, you'll need to remain resilient under pressure, maintain professional perspective, and make sound decisions in situations where there may not always be straightforward solutions. You'll thrive in a fast-paced environment where your leadership and support make a genuine difference every day.

The appointing salary for this role is between $101,287 and $119,161 based on experience.
Alongside a competitive salary, you'll benefit from ACC's generous benefits package, including a 9% employer superannuation contribution with no mandatory employee contribution, plus optional life and income protection insurance..

  • Proven people leadership experience within health, rehabilitation, insurance, social services or customer-focused environments.
  • A demonstrated ability to coach, develop and empower teams to achieve outstanding outcomes.

  • Experience supporting teams managing complex client situations.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • High levels of resilience, empathy and emotional intelligence.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement, inclusive leadership and service excellence.
  • A genuine passion for helping New Zealanders achieve better recovery outcomes.
  • You must hold New Zealand work rights at the time of application.
