The Team Leader – Janitorial Services plays a critical role in ensuring contract compliance, operational excellence, and a safe, clean environment for customers and employees. This position leads and supports janitorial staff across assigned locations while promoting Didlake’s mission, values, safety standards, and commitment to quality service. The Team Leader serves as a role model by fostering teamwork, accountability, dependability, and positive employee engagement, including supporting employees with disabilities in achieving success on the job.

What You Will Do

  • Lead, direct, and supervise janitorial staff in the performance of custodial and maintenance duties in accordance with contract requirements, company policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Assign daily work tasks, distribute supplies and equipment, and inspect completed work to ensure quality and compliance with standards.
  • Clean and maintain hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, stairways, locker rooms, elevators, and other assigned work areas.
  • Perform floor care duties including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, and operating powered floor equipment.
  • Wash windows, door panels, and sills; polish metal fixtures and fittings; empty wastebaskets; and replenish restroom and cleaning supplies.
  • Provide on-site coaching, retraining, and guidance to employees regarding standard operating procedures, safety practices, and proper equipment use.
  • Address employee and customer concerns professionally and escalate issues to management when appropriate
  • Support staffing needs by filling in for janitorial team members as required
  • Operate equipment such as scrubbers, vacuums, snow blowers, Billy Goat blowers, and EZ-Go vehicles safely and effectively.
  • During inclement weather, remove snow and ice from walkways, ramps, and entrances and apply snow/ice melting materials as needed.
  • Travel between assigned contract sub-locations using personal transportation, with mileage reimbursement provided in accordance with company policy.
  • Complete required reports, documentation, and training in a timely manner
  • Promote a positive team environment while maintaining professionalism, reliability, and strong ethical standards.
  • Act as a steward of company and government resources by following all safety, operational, and compliance procedures.
  • Partner with the Workforce Support and Development (WSD) team to establish and maintain Employee Support Plans while ensuring confidentiality requirements are upheld.

Qualifications

What You Bring

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of recent experience in commercial custodial or maintenance services required
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.

Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of custodial equipment and cleaning chemicals, including scrubbers, vacuums, snow blowers, Billy Goat blowers, and EZ-Go equipment.
  • Ability to train, coach, and reinforce proper procedures and safe equipment operation with staff.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to follow instructions and complete required documentation.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and resolve workplace concerns professionally.
  • Ability to work effectively and positively with individuals with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, reliability, flexibility, and commitment to teamwork.
  • Ability to pass required background checks.
  • Have a valid driver's license and be insurable under Didlake's automobile policy. Requirements include but are not limited to a minimum of 3 years of licensed driving and being at least 25 years old.
  • Must have a valid Real Id for access to the work site.
