Join Us. Build a Better World Through Business.

At Barry-Wehmiller Companies, we believe business can be a powerful force for good. Headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, we are a global leader in manufacturing technology and services. Since our founding in 1885 as a maker of brewing machinery, we’ve grown through the acquisition of more than 80 companies, serving industries such as packaging, paper converting, sheeting, corrugating, engineering, and IT consulting. In 2016, we ranked No. 10 on the St. Louis Business Journal list of the city’s Top 150 Privately Held Companies.

What truly sets us apart is our culture—rooted in Truly Human Leadership, a philosophy that prioritizes the well-being and growth of every individual. We measure success by the way we touch lives, not just by financial results.

In India, Barry-Wehmiller operates as a hub of innovation and collaboration through our Global Competency Center (GCC) and other strategic functions. The GCC houses centers of excellence in engineering, content management, sourcing, software development, global IT operations, and shared financial services—providing critical support to Barry-Wehmiller divisions worldwide.

Our culture is built on:

  • Ownership – Drive features end-to-end, from design to deployment.
  • Flexibility – A friendly, results-oriented environment that respects your time.
  • Empowerment – Your ideas matter, and your work creates visible impact.
  • Learning and Growth – Tackle complex challenges alongside passionate peers, with continuous support for your development.

Career Development and Global Exposure
At Barry-Wehmiller, your growth is our priority. You’ll have access to world-class learning programs, leadership development opportunities, and mentorship from industry experts. Our global footprint means you’ll collaborate with teams across continents, gaining exposure to diverse markets, cutting-edge technologies, and best practices from around the world. Whether you aspire to deepen your technical expertise or take on leadership roles, we provide the resources and support to help you thrive.

If you’re ready to bring your best thinking to a high-impact, future-focused environment—where long-term stability meets start-up agility—and be part of a company that cares deeply about people, we’d love to hear from you.

The Flex Team Leader provides leadership oversight for the GCC Engineering flex pool, ensuring engineering resources are deployed effectively across multiple global divisions while maintaining the agreed scope, operating intent, and stakeholder commitments of the flex team model. Day-to-day technical challenge resolution, deliverable quality, and output management will be owned by front-line leaders within the flex team.

Reporting to the Director, GCC Engineering, the Flex Team Leader enables GCC scalability, cross-platform collaboration, and shared-services identity by establishing the right governance, cadence, role clarity, and stakeholder engagement mechanisms for the flex team.

Key Responsibilities

1. Resource Allocation and Delivery

  • Oversee flex pool deployment across platforms, ensuring the required Mechanical, Electrical, and Controls Engineering capacity is available and aligned to agreed priorities, while front-line leaders manage day-to-day deliverable execution.
  • Establish delivery governance through front-line leaders who are accountable for technical issue resolution, quantity of work completed, quality of outputs, and timely escalation of risks or constraints.

2. Bench strength ownership

  • Drive a monthly demand-planning cadence with platforms and partner with recruiting to sustain available capacity at all times through proactive team build-out with efficient forecasting and demand planning.
  • Partner with engineering leaders to plan the cohort size, composition and deployment to fulfil recruitment needs across the GCC engineering team.

3. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with platform engineering leaders and internal front-line leaders to anticipate flex resource demand, confirm scope and priorities, and provide weekly and monthly updates on capacity, commitments, delivery health, and stakeholder risks.

4. Team Leadership and Capability Building

  • Build organizational capability by developing front-line leaders, enabling them to coach flex engineers, manage technical readiness, and ensure consistent execution against platform-specific standards.
  • Use a skills matrix to maintain visibility to team capability, coverage gaps, readiness levels, and deployment suitability across the flex team.
  • Partner with Director, GCC Engineering and People team on recruitment, onboarding, and training.

5. Governance and Reporting

  • Own allocation governance, billing visibility, stakeholder commitment tracking, monthly reporting, heart count forecasts, and core flex team utilization metrics.
  • Contribute to GCC dashboards (utilization, attrition, skills coverage, project allocation).
  • Support continuous improvement and standardization of engineering processes by enabling governance, escalation discipline, and consistent execution practices through front-line leaders.

7. GCC Integration and Culture

  • Role-model GCC identity while ensuring fairness and transparency in cross-platform assignments.
  • Encourage knowledge-sharing and collaboration across flex and dedicated teams.

Technical and Operational Leader Capability

  • Seeking an experienced engineering leader with a strong understanding of mechanical engineering delivery and cross-platform stakeholder management. The role requires sufficient technical breadth to engage credibly with platform leaders and front-line technical leaders, while relying on designated front-line leaders for detailed technical decisions and deliverable ownership.
  • The ideal candidate will bring relevant industry experience, proven people leadership, governance discipline, and the ability to manage delivery commitments through front-line leaders while maintaining clear visibility to execution health.
  • Working knowledge of discrete machine design, engineering workflows, CAD-based delivery environments, FEA concepts, and global engineering standards is preferred.
  • Certifications such as PMP or Six Sigma Black Belt will be considered an advantage, reflecting structured governance, execution discipline, continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to drive predictable delivery through teams.
  • Exposure to industrial machinery design, installation, commissioning, and practical engineering constraints is desirable to support informed stakeholder discussions and appropriate escalation management.
  • Experience managing distributed teams, external partners, or shared-service delivery models is important to ensure commitments, timelines, escalation paths, and stakeholder expectations are managed effectively.
  • A key expectation from this role is to build confidence with BW group companies by ensuring the flex team model delivers reliably against agreed scope, quality expectations, communication cadences, and stakeholder commitments.
  • The candidate should demonstrate a strong learning mindset and proven experience developing front-line leaders who can manage technical depth, execution quality, team productivity, mentorship, and performance management within the flex team.
