
West Wave is one of the biggest and busiest leisure centres in New Zealand. We are currently looking for a Fitness Team Leader to play a key part in making the experience of our customers fun, safe, and enjoyable.
This role isn't about hanging around the step machines looking cool; this is about leading a team of Fitness Consultants and Fitness Team Members who love to engage with our customers, talk to them, and to understand their needs to encourage them to enjoy keeping fit & healthy regularly.
You'll play a key role in setting the tone for service, lifting consistency, and ensuring the function operates with professionalism, responsiveness, and a strong customer focus. This includes day-to-day leadership of team members, performance management, training, development, and leave oversight for staff based primarily at the centre.

This is a full-time, on-site, permanent opportunity, working 40 hours per week. The centre operates across 7 days, 5:30am to 9:30pm most days, and this role may be required to work across all days and hours of operation.
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts and hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public/school holidays is essential for this role.
This role will suit a capable people leader with excellent judgement and the confidence to lead a front-facing team in a busy operational environment.
You'll have experience managing a team within the health and fitness environment and a proven track record in developing & maintaining relationships with a diverse range of internal and external customers. You'l also have experience leading group fitness classes, e.g., BoxFit and Aqua classes.
You must hold an NZ-recognised qualification in Fitness, Sport or Recreation, current REPs registration, and a current First Aid certificate (you must be willing to obtain one if not currently held).

Salary Range: $85,000 – $95,000 per annum (our employer KiwiSaver contribution is in addition to the base salary offered).
