Team Leader / Driver (Class 4)

Full-time | Monday to Friday | Public Holidays as required

We are looking for a Team Leader - Driver to coordinate daily driver operations and support the smooth running of our transport activities. In this role, you will ensure drivers are prepared, compliant, and operating efficiently, while also providing hands-on support across operations when required.

This is a dynamic, fast-paced role that combines leadership, coordination, and driving responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys being both on the road and leading from the front.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating drivers and supporting the day-to-day execution of transport operations to ensure services run safely, efficiently, and on schedule. You’ll take a proactive approach to problem-solving, provide hands-on support when needed, and ensure high standards across operations and customer service.

  • Coordinate drivers, ensuring pre-start checks are completed and vehicles depart on schedule, including arranging cover for absences.
  • Prepare driver rosters and support the Operations Supervisor with daily operational coordination.
  • Provide relief driving across routes as required, including loading and unloading duties.
  • Maintain accurate records, complete documentation, and operate relevant systems.
  • Ensure vehicles are well-presented, maintained, and compliant with safety and operational standards.
  • Promote a high standard of customer service and ensure compliance with company procedures, including fatigue management.
  • Assist in achieving monthly branch HSEQ KPI targets.
  • Schedule preventative maintenance and repairs for trucks and equipment in a coordinated manner to minimise service disruption.
  • Support the Operations Manager in continuously improving service delivery and resolving operational issues in a timely manner.

Qualifications

About you

You’re a natural leader with strong operational awareness and a hands-on approach. You’re organised, dependable, and able to keep things running smoothly while supporting your team. You’re just as comfortable behind the wheel as you are coordinating schedules and solving day-to-day challenges.

You’ll bring:

  • A minimum Class 4 New Zealand Driver’s Licence.
  • Proven experience in a driving role (HR or Class 4).
  • Demonstrated supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of vehicle operations.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
