Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Team Leader to join Te Pātaka Kōrero - Library Client Services team on a permanent full-time contract.

Key responsibilities:

  • To ensure the delivery and promotion of the full range of client services (including self-service) is achieved to a consistently high standard which meet clients’ needs.
  • Coach, develop and mentor the Client Services staff to ensure they are well trained and supported in their professional development and can assist clients with access to physical and electronic collections.
  • Lead, manage and monitor the performance of the team.
  • Library spaces are well-maintained and meet clients’ needs, and physical collections are easy to locate and use.
  • Support the work of Te Pātaka Kōrero - Library to deliver and develop services and resources, contributing to a skilled, progressive and efficient workforce.

You will be a highly organised self-starter and natural relationship builder, with demonstrated leadership ability who can lead a team to deliver high-quality library services. You bring an inclusive, practical leadership style, thrive in a busy service environment, and are confident motivating others, balancing priorities, and adapting to change.

Key requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading a successful team or project initiatives.
  • Proven ability to develop highly effective relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Outstanding people and communication skills including the ability to adjust to different audiences.
  • Proven service delivery and support experience to a diverse range of clients.
  • Ability to assess, troubleshoot and adapt workflows and processes to deliver on required outcomes with established timeframes.
