Lead a high-performing claims team within a values-driven organisation focused on operational excellence, customer outcomes and continuous improvement.

We’re looking for an experienced Operations Team Leader to lead a team of 15–18 Extras Claims Consultants in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong people leader who enjoys developing teams, improving operational performance and using data-driven insights to deliver meaningful outcomes.

While experience in health insurance or claims is highly regarded, we are equally interested in leaders from other operational or regulated environments who bring strong coaching capability, commercial awareness and a passion for continuous improvement.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operational performance of the Extras Claims function, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant claims outcomes while fostering a positive, engaged and customer-focused team culture.

You will play a key role in driving team performance, service delivery, operational efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives across the function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of 15–18 Extras Claims Consultants
  • Drive strong operational performance across people, process and service delivery
  • Ensure accurate and compliant claims processing aligned with policies and regulatory requirements
  • Manage workflow, resourcing and service levels to achieve operational targets and SLAs
  • Deliver meaningful coaching, development and performance support to team members
  • Analyse operational and financial reporting to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities
  • Champion continuous improvement and process optimisation initiatives
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across risk, compliance, quality and process improvement teams
  • Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders, providers and external partners
  • Foster a positive, accountable and customer-focused team environment

About You

You are an experienced operational leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and knows how to bring out the best in people. You combine strong commercial thinking with a hands-on leadership style and enjoy using coaching, analytics and continuous improvement to drive results.

You will bring:

  • Proven experience leading medium to large operational teams (15+ team members)
  • Experience within claims, health insurance or regulated operational environments (preferred)
  • Strong analytical, reporting and problem-solving capability
  • Sound commercial and financial acumen
  • Demonstrated success in coaching, developing and performance managing teams
  • Understanding of risk, compliance and quality frameworks
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Ability to lead effectively within high-volume operational environments
