Join a team shaping the future of water and wastewater infrastructure across Canada. As Team Leader, Building Mechanical – Infrastructure & Facilities (Water), you will lead the design and delivery of complex infrastructure and facilities projects while helping grow and advance our Building Mechanical practice. This is a senior, hands-on leadership opportunity that combines technical excellence, project delivery, people leadership, and client engagement. Working in a player-coach capacity, you will contribute directly to design while mentoring engineers and designers and supporting strategic growth in the municipal and industrial water sectors.
Your Impact
In this role, you will:
Lead the building mechanical design and delivery of water and wastewater treatment facilities, including process buildings, pumping stations, and support infrastructure.
Provide leadership to a team of engineers and designers, ensuring technical excellence, accountability, and professional growth.
Collaborate across disciplines and offices to deliver integrated, high-quality solutions.
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, building long-term relationships and supporting strategic growth initiatives.
Contribute to the development of standards, tools, and best practices that improve efficiency, quality, and consistency across projects.
The Skills That Set You Apart
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in a Canadian jurisdiction.
10–15+ years of experience in infrastructure and/or facilities engineering.
Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex projects.
Experience in water and wastewater facilities is strongly preferred.
Mechanical Systems Expertise
HVAC systems (central plants, air systems, controls integration).
Plumbing systems (potable/non-potable water, drainage, specialty systems).
Fire protection systems and NFPA standards.
Experience with process-related mechanical systems in treatment facilities.
Software & Tools
Advanced proficiency in:
Revit
Autodesk Construction Cloud / Autodesk Forma
Bluebeam
Carrier HAP (or similar load calculation software)
Codes & Standards
Strong working knowledge of:
NFPA (including NFPA 820)
ASHRAE standards
CSA codes (e.g., B139, B149)
ASME piping codes
Provincial and National Building Codes

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Design
Lead and actively contribute to the design of mechanical systems, including:
HVAC systems (air distribution, central plants, controls)
Plumbing systems (potable and non-potable water, drainage)
Fire protection systems (including NFPA-based designs)
Odour control and specialty systems
Perform and review engineering calculations, including load analysis, pipe and duct sizing, and system performance evaluations.
Prepare and review:
Design drawings and specifications
Basis of Design reports and technical memoranda
Provide technical oversight during all phases, including design, procurement, and construction.
Resolve complex engineering challenges and support innovation in system design.
Project Management & Delivery
Lead or support delivery of projects from concept through detailed design and construction.
Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and technical quality.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, structural, electrical, and process disciplines.
Support risk identification, mitigation strategies, and project execution planning.
Interface with clients, contractors, and stakeholders throughout project delivery.
Team Leadership & People Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of junior, intermediate, and senior engineers and technologists.
Provide regular coaching, feedback, and performance guidance.
Manage team workload, assignments, and technical output.
Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of talent.
Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance team culture.
Standards, Quality & Continuous Improvement
Lead development and implementation of mechanical design standards and tools.
Promote consistency, quality, and efficiency across all projects.
Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and innovation.
Ensure alignment with corporate quality management systems and best practices.
Business Development & Client Engagement
Support and lead proposal development, including:
Scope definition
Technical approach
Resource planning and fee development
Build and maintain strong client relationships as a trusted partner.
Identify and pursue opportunities for repeat business and new work.
Support strategic pursuits and collaborate with senior leadership on market positioning.

MB & ON: $112,100 – $154,400
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $111,000 – $147,400
