Job Description

Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Ensure all team members understand the need for safe working practices and adhere to the safe working methods and countermeasures that Vector Aerospace implement.
  • Champion team participation and contribute with all appropriate improvement initiatives, including Associate Involvement, Improving Quality and Continuous Improvement.
  • Manage the day to day capability of the team to deliver required throughput rate in support of customer requirements, ensuring that sufficient Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SQEP) are available to meet daily, weekly and whole workload requirements as defined by the Programme Manager.
  • Report emerging and/or potential needs for overtime to the Programme Manager.
  • Manage the utilization of labour and resources in line with Production Schedule.
  • Embed a mind-set of total conformity, adhering to Quality Management System (QMS), Safety Management System (SMS), Environmental Management System (EMS) and all associated Business Manuals.
  • Deputise for your line manager when required.
  • Regularly review and develop the day to day capability of the team and update skills matrix.
  • Identify development needs and ensure that when required, training is organized and associates are made available to successfully undertake training.
  • Conduct Personal Development Reviews, ensuring adequate opportunity for development within the team against agreed objectives.
  • Review team performance measures, monthly against agreed objectives.
  • Be the focal point for the team to help resolve issues, remove barriers to progression and to enable an uninterrupted workflow.
  • Manage assigned direct reports in accordance with shop standards and working time directive.
  • Manage Time & Attendance for direct reports and conduct Return To Work interviews.
  • Ensure that all recurring training is maintained current.
  • Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness of the working environment (customer and audit ready at all times).

Operations Related

  • Manage capacity plans and prioritise order tasks to meet customer requirements and capacity constraints.
  • Promote Lean practices and continuous improvement within the team to improve the team’s performance and Turn Round Time/On Time Delivery.
  • Manage calibration requirements, Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and tooling.
  • Maintain a comprehensive level of knowledge on product of Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, Commercial Engine Bulletins and Service Information Leaflets
  • Maintain product knowledge and competency at a level that justifies holding maintenance approvals.
  • Raise Non-Conformity reports as necessary.
  • Ensure that all documents related to the work being performed are completed.
  • Ensure that all non-conforming products are identified and that corrective action is taken in line with Quality standards and timescales.
  • Ensure that first reports have 100% of Attended Hours booked to appropriate tasks each day to maximise productivity.
  • Attend production meetings and feed information and data into other interactive areas.
  • Ensure Facility and IS work orders are raised in a timely manner.
  • Any other duties as reasonably requested by your line manager or leadership team.

General

  • Authorised to conduct work within the scope of company approvals and to stop work that could expose the Company, customer’s equipment or any personnel to risk of injury or damage.
  • Reporting to the Programme Manager for all operational and administrative matters, report on current status and provide updates as appropriate.
  • Proactively develop and maintain effective working relationships with all business functions.
  • Work with relevant support departments to help ensure that spares are available when required.
  • Share and seek best practices including networking with other Team Leaders.
  • Role model core behaviours within the team, providing demonstrable leadership qualities.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Strong verbal communication and written skills to work with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A keen eye for detail.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage own workload as well as that of others.
  • Good team worker.
  • Demonstrable analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Diploma or similar level of education or equivalent experience in an aerospace or gas turbine discipline.
  • Awareness and implication of the regulations and regulatory requirements of the aerospace industry.
  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret manuals and technical instructions.
  • Working knowledge of precision measuring instruments.
  • Working knowledge of gas turbine engine and/or accessory theory and performance analysis.
  • Knowledge of engine and component build standards and original equipment manufacturing manuals.
