We have an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader to join our Regional Assets, Track team located at our Cairns depot.

  • Starting base salary of $93, 300 + 12.75% superannuation + applicable penalities
  • 9-day fortnight – Mon - Fri, Tues - Fri (3 day weekend every fortnight)
  • General work hours: 0600 to 1500 in Summer & 0700 to 1600 in Winter)
  • Travel within roster, on paid work time (accommodation provided + travel allowance)

Purpose that counts.

As the Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of a team of Trackworkers. You’ll use your people skills to make sure all aspects of work is carried out safely and efficiently.

This position is constantly in the field so you must be able to work in challenging weather conditions and high temperatures.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and safely
  • Supervising the daily operations of assigned workgroups
  • Ensuring all plant and equipment receive regular servicing and maintenance
  • Liaising with the Track Maintenance Supervisor regarding daily work requirements
  • Assisting tradespeople in providing mechanical maintenance support for machines as needed
  • Performing administrative and record-keeping duties

  • Experience in track maintenance or construction activities and work planning
  • Leadership, people management and negotiation skills
  • Problem solving and quality improvement skills
  • A current open drivers licence - essential
