About the Role
As Team Leader, you will provide leadership and operational oversight across our Case Management and Recovery Programs, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, culturally safe and trauma-informed services for victim-survivors of family violence, including children and young people. Leading a team of specialist family violence practitioners and Case Support Workers, you will oversee day-to-day operations, staff supervision and reflective practice, while driving best-practice service delivery aligned with the Code of Practice, CMPR and MARAM frameworks. Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will foster a collaborative and learning-focused team culture, contribute to service
planning, risk management and continuous improvement, and support integrated, client-focused and child-centered approaches that strengthen recovery, wellbeing and safety outcomes for diverse communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day supervision, support and guidance to staff, fostering a culture of reflective practice, cultural safety, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure the delivery of culturally safe, trauma-informed and high-quality case management, for victim-survivors of family violence including the delivery of Recovery programs.
- Proactively build workforce capability working collaboratively to ensure that the experiences and voices of children and young people inform the service response.
- Ensure that team practice adheres to legislative and professional obligations, including organisational policies, standards, and guidelines. This includes ensuring compliance with Child Safe Standards and relevant legislative frameworks (including the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 and Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005) the MARAM framework and the CMPR regarding the delivery of specific Case Management Responses (e.g., Crisis, Intermediate) and Functions (e.g., Screening, Risk Assessment, Case Planning, Closure) across all life domains.
- Support the development and implementation of culturally safe safety plans, support plans and recovery plans tailored to the unique needs of migrant and refugee clients.
- Input into the development and modification of direct service policies and procedures to ensure they capture staff needs and incorporate best practice models and theoretical frameworks.
- Review and analyse client data and develop reports identifying emerging trends to inform policy and system improvements. Monitor team program requirements, including data collection and adherence to practice standards.
- Coordinate staff workload and capacity within the team, ensuring effective case allocation and timely responses to client needs.
- Facilitate team-based reflective practice, group case consultations, and opportunities for professional development and skill building.
- Contribute to the integration of services across the case management and Intake teams to streamline client journeys and strengthen holistic, culturally responsive practice.
- Maintain accurate and timely records and reporting requirements to support service accountability and quality improvement.
- Promote a safe and inclusive workplace, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, practice standards, OH&S, and cultural safety standards.
- Proactively identify risks and emerging issues, collaborating with the Manager to implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Strengthen relationships with external stakeholders and community partners to enhance culturally safe and effective service responses.
- Contribute to the implementation of organisational strategy and planning, advocating for continuous improvement in culturally safe and integrated recovery and therapeutic services.
People Management
- Ensure a safe work environment and compliance with inTouch policies and legislation.
- Effectively lead the professional staff in all aspects of people management including providing guidance, support and development.
- Provide clear direction, advice, and high-quality supervision to staff, ensuring continuous professional development and capacity building. Develop the practice skills of others using supervision frameworks.
- Excellent understanding of and expertise in application of best practice principles and frameworks of supervision.
- Demonstrate people-centered leadership by delivering constructive feedback with empathy, promoting accountability, continuous development, and a culture where team members feel supported.
- Ensure effective people management of direct reports to enable the team to deliver service delivery outcomes effectively and efficiently as practicable.
- Ensure timely completion of PDRs including development plans for direct reports and provide ongoing feedback on their work performance.
- Provide induction to new staff members.
- Provide leadership and guidance in ensuring a service culture is applied within professional services.
- Lead, mentor and coach staff to promote continuous improvement, including undertaking on-the-job training/instruction and providing daily feedback and performance management.
- Monitor, prioritise and coordinate workflow of direct reports.

Key Selection Criteria:
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work or a related field that meets minimum mandatory qualification requirements.
- A strong knowledge and understanding of the drivers/causes of family violence and child and family vulnerability, as well as the child and family services and/or broader social services sector and their fundamental practices and theories is required.
- Experience in service provision to victim survivors of family violence and in team management and leadership.
- Expertise in supporting practitioners delivering services to clients with complex needs (e.g., intersecting mental health or AOD issues), ensuring effective engagement strategies are implemented for diverse cohorts, based on trauma-informed and anti-oppressive practice.
- Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management framework and experience supporting the autonomy and empowerment of victim survivors while managing family violence risk.
- The Team Leader will hold responsibility for providing expert practice leadership on engaging children and young people, assessing risk and needs and supporting child centered interventions.
- Demonstrated experience in developing interventions to reduce risk and vulnerabilities to infants, children and young people, using theoretical frameworks to underpin the approaches.
- Demonstrated leadership in ensuring team practice embeds core principles of the MARAM Framework, Code of Practice, and the Case Management Program Requirements (CMPR)
- Expertise in providing case consultation and mentoring to support child centered practice for children and young people experiencing family violence, including culturally safe, inclusive approaches, and effective risk assessment and safety planning.
- Extensive knowledge of the roles and referral pathways within the Integrated Family Violence service system and the ability to work collaboratively with these organisations.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the diverse range of referral and support options available to women and children who have experienced family violence, presenting with complex support needs.
- Knowledge of cultural safety requirements and ability to develop cultural safety action plans with clients when required.
- Expertise in trauma‐informed practice, crisis support, and system advocacy.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and crisis response skills.
- Ability to positively contribute to consultation processes, communities of practice, reflective practice and continuous improvement processes.
- Current driver’s license.
