Job Description

About Akura

At Akura, people come first. We are a hands-on, values-driven culture where initiative is encouraged, accountability matters and good work is recognised. You’ll be part of a team that takes pride in what we deliver and supports each other to do it well.

Akura is an industrial design and construction specialist, delivering high quality property solutions for owner-occupiers, developers and investors. With more than 50 years of experience, we’ve built a reputation on quality, speed of delivery and buildings that are made to last.

We specialise in industrial units, warehouses and self-storage facilities, with in-house manufacturing of structural steel and precast concrete panels at the core of our offering. We support our clients across the full project lifecycle – from architectural and structural design through to on-site construction and delivery. We also work directly with builders to supply engineered steel and precast packages.

Join a business with a strong pipeline, long-term vision and the opportunity to contribute to projects that shape Australia’s industrial landscape while building a career you can be proud of.

About The Role

We're looking for a senior operator to join Akura as a Team Leader in our precast facility. Whether you're an experienced Team Leader with a strong background in factory or production environments, or someone with hands-on experience in construction or related industry, we’d love to hear from you. If you have a trade qualification—such as a carpenter, cabinetmaker, builder, concreter, roofer, or steel fixer—or if you have a strong eye for detail and experience in formwork, carpentry, or similar tasks, this is a great opportunity to join us as a senior operator.

We're a growing business with big plans for the future - we'll show you the ropes and give you opportunity to grow with us.

Key Responsibilities

As a Team Leader, some of the things you’ll do may include:

  • Ensure specifications are achieved and inventory is used efficiently.
  • Execute daily tasks to meet production, quality assurance (QA), and logistics targets.
  • Meet targets while managing resources within budgetary constraints
  • Maintain a safe workplace and prioritize team wellness.
  • Complete necessary machine training and sign off on Safe Operating Procedures before use.
  • Lead designated teams to achieve daily targets and maintain productivity.
  • Model Akura values, setting an example for the team.
  • Support the Manager and Foreman in achieving key performance indicators (KPIs).

About You

Skills in the following would be highly advantageous:

  • 3 years’ experience in the building industry
  • Experience in leading a team with more than 2 people
  • A natural flair for detailed work such as carpentry, formwork or similar
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a focus on quality, always seeking to deliver your best work
  • A current driver’s licence

You will be:

  • A team player with strong communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude
  • Someone who takes a safety-first approach in everything you do!
  • Someone who identifies and embraces opportunities for improvement
  • Someone who aspires to lead a small team - you won't do this on day one, but over time this is something you'll grow into

What we offer you

  • An exciting career opportunity in a market-leading business experiencing rapid growth
  • The opportunity to work in one place, out of the weather in our precast manufacturing facility in
    Kelso
  • Opportunity to grow your career – we invest in our people
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment
  • Competitive hourly rate
  • Inclusion in the Akura Factory Bonus Scheme

Interested?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Akura team.

Alignment with our core values is key so if you’ve got the right skills
and you’re reliable, a team player with a can-do attitude, driven to deliver
quality outputs and willing to innovate/challenge the status quo,
we’d love
to hear from you.

Apply now to start your Akura journey.
