Who are we?
Choice Care is one of the UK’s leading residential care providers for people with learning disabilities, autism and mental health conditions. With over 30 years’ experience, we’re at the forefront of national best practice, with among the highest CQC ratings of any comparable organisation.
Our homes are more than just a place to live, they’re like a second family for everyone we support. Each home is a close knit community, with its own unique personality, and all the ups and downs of typical family life, built on trust and the promise of unconditional care. Our colleagues build close bonds with the people they care for, helping to create enduring, positive relationships that build confidence and self-esteem.
In every Choice Care home there’s a strong emphasis on living life to the full and having fun, with purposeful daily activities based on individual preferences and capabilities. Alongside this there are regular social events, projects, outings and holiday breaks which everyone can get involved in and express themselves through.
Where will you work?
A mile from Waterlooville, and a short distance from Portsmouth city centre, Parkwood Lodge is a large, detached home supporting seven men and women with mental health conditions and associated complex needs, including people with schizophrenia, personality disorder, those in danger of self-harming and people with an acquired brain injury, as well as one person with learning disability. Ages range from early twenties to sixty. The experienced staff team provides 24-hour residential support and day care services. The aim is to support everyone to develop personal and independent living skills, so they can get the most out of life and eventually move on to a more independent lifestyle. Our Positive Behaviour Support Team works alongside the staff to help people manage their behaviours and encourage a sense of wellbeing. Parkwood Lodge has an Activity Coordinator who organises educational and recreational activities, including football, theatre, live music, the cinema, horse riding, pet therapy and special events, like the Parkwood Summer Fete. The coordinator develops individual timetables, based around each person’s preferences and personal development needs. The home has its own transport for trips into town or further afield.
