Job Description

The Primetals-Blytheville Facility provides maintenance and reconditioning of beam, bloom and billet, conventional and thin slab casters. Engineering services, in-plant laser measurement services, in-plant millwright services, mechanical machining of large and small components, fabrication and welding services, in-house nickel and chrome plating are offered. Our expertise and technological advancements in the manufacture and repair of continuous casting mold, segment, roll and related components allow us to provide customers exceptional value in workmanship and quality assurance with every job.

Our Blytheville, AR facility is currently seeking to fill the role of Team Leader II – 1st shift for our Machine Shop I department.

The Team Leader will spend more than 90% of work hours performing machining tasks similar to those of other group members.

Applicants must pass a pre-employment physical exam and drug screen.

Classification and base pay rate will be dependent upon skillset and prior experience.

Duties of the Team Leader will be performed in-house and on location at customer site.

  • Requirements –
  • Current, valid driver license
  • Ability to read and interpret measuring instruments
  • Minimum of 1 year leadership experience

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Spends more than twenty percent of time performing production tasks similar to those of other group members.
    • Operates manual machines such as lathes, mills, and profile machines
    • Monitors work to ensure that machine is operating properly
    • Works from drawings and written instructions to create replacement and new parts, and in making repairs to existing parts and equipment.
    • Requires extensive knowledge of various metals and of measurements used in machining processes
    • Determines dimensions and tolerances of piece to be machined, sequence of operations and machines required by studying specifications, such as blueprints, sketches, damaged parts, or descriptions of parts
    • Computes cutting speeds, feed rates and dimensions
    • Prepares and pre-sets all tools needed for machining operations
    • Responsible for rigging and transporting large parts and equipment by crane
    • Inspects machined work pieces to verify conformance to specifications
    • Performs housekeeping of machine and work area
  • Receives and disseminates written and verbal instruction, direction and training from Supervisor or other Senior Managers
  • Trains group members and may participate in performance appraisal process.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area
  • Monitor and ensure shipments are loaded and rigged properly.
  • May assist in the hiring process.
  • Serves as point of contact for customer and/or vendors
  • Ensure the safety and productivity of all employees assigned to designated shift, crew or function
  • Operates from a broad scope of responsibility to maintain production schedules and to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Enables effective communication between management and operators.
  • Enforce processing procedures and policies.
  • Ensure completion of operational documentation for assigned group, such as travelers, map sheets, job routers, work requests to other departments, etc.
  • Ensure completion of safety documentation for assigned groups, such as first reports of injury, environmental mishaps, JSA’s, etc

Required Education/Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years of machining experience required
  • A minimum of 1 year of prior leadership required
  • CNC programming experience is preferred
