The Opportunity
The Team Lead, Visitor and Facilities Steward is a hands on leadership role responsible for ensuring consistent, high quality visitor and facility services across five Alberta Innovates sites. Reporting to the Manager, Accommodation Planning and Services, this position provides day to day oversight, mentorship, and guidance to the V&FS team while serving as the primary escalation point for operational matters. In addition to leading the function, the Team Lead actively performs the duties of the Visitor and Facilities Steward, supporting front line service delivery as required. Working collaboratively with Alberta Innovates and InnoTech Alberta partners, the role advances process improvements and standardization, strengthens visitor management and Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) practices, and supports efficient, client focused operations. As a visible ambassador for Alberta Innovates, this position plays an important role in delivering a professional and welcoming site experience.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for duties that will include:
• Lead the delivery and continuous improvement of Visitor and Facilities Stewardship (V&FS) services, ensuring consistent, high quality operations, processes, and client experiences across all sites.
• Provide day to day leadership, coaching, and mentorship to the V&FS team, supporting performance, capability development, and effective workforce planning and coverage.
• Oversee front line service delivery, including performing Visitor and Facilities Steward duties such as front desk operations, visitor management, and site access coordination.
• Monitor and manage operational performance, reporting, scheduling, and administrative requirements (e.g., timesheets, site reporting, and budget support).
• Coordinate training and implementation of the V&FS service delivery model, driving standardization and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Partner with Alberta Innovates, InnoTech Alberta, and business areas to align services with operational needs, enhance processes, and support events and facility activities.
• Strengthen visitor management practices, identify gaps, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, compliance, and overall service effectiveness.
• Electronic time sheet and vacation request approvals
Qualifications and Skills
Required
• Minimum 1 year diploma in Administration or equivalent experience.
• Course in Change Management
• Course in Conflict Resolution
• First Aid certification
• Minimum of 5 years of related work experience. Combination of education and work experience may be considered.
• Demonstrated leadership experience and working collaboratively with others
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Demonstrated initiative and timely execution of assigned responsibilities
• Effective planning, organization, and priority setting skills
• Excellent verbal, written, listening, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to delegate tasks effectively and support team coordination
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Knowledge of safety policies, procedures and legislation
