Job Purpose: This role is responsible to oversee the maintenance and operational excellence of Turbine area, ensuring high availability and functionality. This includes managing corrective maintenance, overhauling activities, and instrument calibration to minimize downtime and maintain efficiency. The role also involves coordinating with various departments to align on maintenance activities with organizational objectives, managing resources and budgets effectively, and driving innovation.

Team Lead Turbine (T1)

Operational Excellence and Maintenance Management:

Manage the availability and functionality of auto loops and DCS/DEH systems.

Analyse frequent problems during shifts and devise both short-term and long-term solutions to mitigate issues.

Perform timely completion of corrective maintenance to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.

Monitor annual overhauling activities and guarantee prompt startup of the unit post-shutdown and overhauling.

Monitor the calibration of instruments according to the Preventive Maintenance (PM) Schedule.

Manage modification of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMP) as required to enhance maintenance operations.

Promptly address and manage emergency situations with swift and decisive action.

Manage maintenance backups of DCS/PLC/TSI/HPLP bypass systems/CPU and other Control & Instrumentation (C&I) systems to ensure data integrity and system reliability.

Manage plant improvement projects for system reliability and plant performance improvement.

Ensure ZFO implementation and strive for zero human error.

Implement MoC (Management of Change) protocols to ensure safe and compliant modifications to equipment and processes.

Reporting, Communication, and Coordination:

Provide timely and accurate reports and updates to superiors, ensuring transparency and effective communication of departmental performance.

Coordinate with Shift Engineers and other departmental heads to ensure seamless operations and maintenance activities.

Manage preparation of various technical reports to document system performance, maintenance activities, and operational challenges.

Budgeting and Resource Management:

Provide inputs, monitor and manage section budget for the Turbine area, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with organizational financial goals.

Manage the availability of spare parts by creating Purchase Requests (PRs) in a timely manner and following up with the Technical Committee (TC) and vendors.

Manage inventory levels to prevent stockouts and ensure the availability of critical components for maintenance activities.

Manage development of cost-saving initiatives and optimize resource allocation to contribute to the company's financial health.

Business Sustainability:

Ensure adherence to IMS, AWMS, DISHA and CHETNA guidelines within the department to maintain business sustainability.

Enforce safety compliance rigorously, ensuring proper permits are obtained before the commencement of any job.

Avoid repetition of errors and problems by implementing robust error management and problem-solving protocols.

Ensure all equipment safety protections are in place and functioning correctly to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of personnel.

Ensure adherence to statutory compliances and regulations.

Digitization and Automation:

Execute comprehensive digitization strategies to optimize operational efficiency and data management.

Innovate and implement automation solutions, such as the DCS/DEH systems, to support overall organizational goals.

Review and implement process and system improvements, adopting newer technologies and innovative ideas to enhance operational workflows.

People and Team Engagement:

Participate in the recruitment process to attract and retain skilled personnel for the C&I maintenance team.

Drive and enhance employee engagement and retention across the team to sustain a positive workplace culture.

Lead, inspire, and mentor the team to foster a high-performance culture and ensure cross-skilling through job rotation, technical, and behavioural training.

Ensure proper succession planning in the team to maintain operational continuity and nurture future leaders.

Educational Qualification:

Bachelor's degree in C&I or Electronics & Communication or equivalent degree.

Work Experience (Range of years):

13+ years of experience in maintenance and operations, preferably in the power or heavy industries.

Preferred Industry:

Experience in power generation, or related process industries with a focus on control and instrumentation systems.
