How you’ll make a difference:

Reporting to the Manager, Talent Strategy & Human Resources Operations, the Team Lead is a strategic and innovative business partner who helps shape how we support our people. In this role, you will provide leadership, coaching and guidance to your team while fostering a stable, collaborative and creative work environment. You will ensure delivery of high-quality recruitment; in addition you will provide strategic HR consultative expertise and service to a client portfolio to enable our people to do their best work and contribute to WCB’s strategic goals.

Your responsibilities:

• Lead and continuously improve modern HR operations and recruitment services, with a strong focus on both leader and employee experience.
• Help shape attraction, retention and workforce strategies that anticipate future skills needs, labour market trends and evolving ways of work.
• Oversee recruitment and leadership hiring strategies that are efficient, equitable and focused on attracting high‑impact talent.
• Build, coach and support a high‑performing HR team that delivers responsive, practical, and solution‑focused services aligned with organizational needs.
• Act as a trusted advisor, driving process improvements and enhancing HR programs using data, workforce insights and best practices.
• Provide expert guidance on complex employee relations matters, balancing risk, fairness, legislative compliance and organizational values.
• Ensure HR strategies, policies and practices are aligned with corporate objectives and deliver measurable value.
• Partner on strengthening leadership capability through targeted training, coaching and practical tools that build confidence in people leadership.
• Collaborate as part of the departmental and divisional leadership team to support our shared focus on people and culture.

Your skills and experience:

• A degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field combined with a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation (required).
• Several years of leadership experience, ideally within complex, unionized or public sector environments, supported by formal leadership or supervisory training.
• A demonstrated ability to build and lead engaged, high‑performing teams, along with a strong track record in HR consulting, leadership in implementation of projects, and leading strategic initiatives.
• Several years of progressive HR experience across recruitment, employee relations, labour relations and performance management, as well in-depth knowledge of HR practices, employment legislation, labour relations and organizational development.

• Experience in leading workplace investigations.

• Strong judgement and the ability to work independently while making sound decisions.
• Excellent time management, organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Strong customer service skills, with the ability to handle sensitive or challenging situations with tact and professionalism.

• Exceptional communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
• Strong analytical, financial and project management capabilities.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, balance competing priorities, and deliver results in a complex environment.
• Experience with HR systems is essential; Workday experience is an asset.

Salary: $113,705 to $142,093 per annum (Salary Grade 14)

Successful candidate must reside in Alberta and be able to work in person from our Edmonton downtown office as required. Final candidates are required to undergo a security clearance as a condition of employment.
