Job Description

Team Lead (Paint & Panel)

Department: Automotive Production

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Sydney

At Carma, we’re more than just a car company, we’re on a mission to shake up the Australian automotive industry! As a digital pre-owned car dealership, we’re turning the car buying experience into a hassle-free, seamless journey that customers can truly enjoy. With our diverse and collaborative team managing everything from engineering to marketing and buying to reconditioning in-house, we’re powered by the best people and we’d love for you to come along for the ride.
You will oversee the transition of vehicles out of our Reconditioning Department (where paint, panel, and cosmetic repairs are executed) and ensure every car meets our exacting standards before it is dispatched to a customer.

What you'll be doing?

  • Workflow Management: Direct the daily priorities for the Reconditioning team to meet delivery deadlines and inventory targets.
  • Quality control: Execute comprehensive quality checks on all panel and cosmetic repairs, ensuring every vehicle meets Carma standards.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a high-performing team of spray painters, and panel specialists, driving excellence in performance, training, and safety.
  • Results driven: Motivate and drive a high-output team to hit daily production targets.
  • Strategic improvements: Proactively identify and resolve workflow bottlenecks or "Work-in-Progress" (WIP) lag to ensure consistent inventory flow.

Okay, let’s talk about you:

  • You have at least 2 years experience leading/ supervising teams in automotive operations, paint and panel shops, or fast paced environments.
  • You have a proven track record in quality assurance with a systematic approach to identifying and resolving defects.
  • You are process-driven and organized - building and refining workflows to increase efficiency.
  • You have excellent communication providing clear, direct feedback to your team and concise updates to senior management.
  • You hold a current NSW driver's Licence.

In this role you’ll be based in our St Peters, Sydney site, with room for parking and train/ bus stops nearby.

What's in it for you?

  • We wouldn’t be a car business if we didn’t give you some $$ off our Carma cars, parts and NRMA cover.
  • Join our high-performing, forward-thinking team and help shake up car buying in Australia.
  • Be a part of a high performing team, where curiosity, learning and tackling fun challenges are just another day at the office.

At Carma, we’re all about fostering an amazing culture, where you can bring your best self to work! We value collaboration, innovation and having a laugh at work. Plus, we’re committed to diversity, inclusion and safe work practices, so no matter your background or experience (or car brand of choice!) we’d love to hear from you. Please let us know if you need any reasonable adjustments during the interview process. #LI-DS1
