Job Description

We are currently hiring a hands-on Lead Low-Voltage Technicians for direct-placement opportunities in the Charlotte, NC and Charleston, SC markets. The company is targeting 2 Leads in each market and is seeking experienced technicians who can combine strong technical ability with jobsite leadership.

-Charlotte market: The technician will support projects throughout the greater Charlotte/ Rock Hill area and surrounding regional markets.

-Charleston market: The technician will support projects throughout Charleston and must be comfortable traveling to Beaufort and Bluffton when projects require coverage. Travel requirements will vary based on customer location and active project demand.

This is not an office-only supervisor position. The Lead Technician will work alongside the crew while taking responsibility for the day-to-day execution of assigned projects. The individual should be able to arrive on site, understand the work required, communicate with the customer or site contact, organize technicians, assign work based on skill level, address technical issues, and help bring the project through completion.

Primary responsibilities include:

-Lead small field crews while remaining actively involved in installation, termination, testing, troubleshooting, and project completion.

-Review project drawings, floor plans, cable schedules, scopes of work, and installation requirements before directing field activities.

-Install and troubleshoot Cat 6 and Cat 6A copper cabling, single-mode fiber, multimode fiber, racks, patch panels, cable pathways, and related infrastructure.

-Support installation and troubleshooting of access-control, surveillance, and other electronic security systems based on project requirements.

-Direct daily field activities and help ensure technicians understand their assignments, installation standards, and expected completion goals.

-Monitor job progress, installation quality, material needs, and possible schedule risks, communicating concerns to project leadership before they affect delivery.

-Perform quality spot checks and correct workmanship issues early to reduce rework and maintain inspection-ready installations.

-Conduct copper certification and fiber testing, interpret results, document deficiencies, and oversee corrective work.

-Communicate professionally with customers, general contractors, other trades, project managers, and internal operations personnel.

-Provide clear customer updates without independently approving change orders, altering project scope, or making contractual commitments.

-Coach less-experienced technicians through hands-on demonstrations, constructive feedback, and reinforcement of proper safety and installation methods.

-Promote a dependable jobsite culture built around safety, accountability, productivity, teamwork, and quality.

-Maintain accurate field documentation, progress photographs, testing records, issue logs, as-built information, time reporting, and project updates.

-Identify future technicians who can take on additional responsibility and help build stronger field teams as the operation grows.

-Safely operate ladders, lifts, hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment in active commercial and construction environments.

-Travel locally and regionally based on project needs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

-5+ years of commercial structured-cabling, low-voltage, telecommunications, or electronic-security installation experience is strongly preferred.

-Previous experience leading technicians, directing daily jobsite activity, or serving as the primary field contact is required.

-Must be willing and able to perform hands-on installation work rather than functioning only as a supervisor.

-Must be comfortable communicating directly with customers and representing the company professionally on active jobsites.

-Must be able to read and interpret construction drawings, floor plans, cable schedules, rack elevations, and project specifications.

-Must understand proper cable routing, support, separation, bend radius, pull tension, labeling, dressing, and termination standards.

-Must demonstrate advanced troubleshooting ability across copper, fiber, pathways, racks, and applicable security systems.

-Experience with copper certification testers and fiber-testing equipment such as OLTS or OTDR is preferred.

-Experience installing pathways, J-hooks, cable tray, sleeves, basic conduit, racks, cabinets, and cable-management systems is preferred.

-Working knowledge of access control, surveillance cameras, controllers, card readers, REX devices, electric strikes, and magnetic locks is beneficial.

-Must be able to recognize quality or safety concerns, stop unsafe work, and escalate issues appropriately.

-Must be dependable, organized, and capable of balancing field production, customer communication, documentation, and crew development.

-BICSI Technician, BICSI Installer, OSHA 10/30, manufacturer certifications, lift certifications, or equivalent training are preferred.

-Must meet company requirements to operate a company-provided vehicle.

-Charleston-area candidates must be comfortable traveling to Beaufort and Bluffton based on project needs.

-Flexibility for occasional schedule adjustments or after-hours work may be required depending on customer and project conditions.
