Job Description

Team Lead: Fixed Income & Trader is responsible for driving the Bank’s fixed income and trading activities to enhance profitability and market presence. The role oversees interbank trading across local and regional/international markets, ensures competitive pricing, manages the fixed income portfolio, develops treasury products, and provides market insights to stakeholders. The incumbent also leads trading activities across foreign exchange, derivatives, and other funds management products while effectively managing market exposure.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review, develop, monitor, and control the budget for the unit to ensure that budgets are aligned with the business plan and expenses are controlled within agreed limits.
  • Prepare daily exchange rate sheet and circulate to Branches before commencement of business to ensure that all trades are done as per the day's defined currencies trading strategy.
  • Monitor performance and positions against set limits.
  • Trade as a dealer for a particular area of the desk’s product range.
  • To trade profitably in selected Currencies and Fixed Income Products.
  • Monitor global currency markets for rates movements, macroeconomics trends and their impact in the Fixed Income markets Advise management on same.
  • Trade within approved Dealers limits in the Interbank for profit or covering positions in accordance with FX trading Credit lines.
  • Deepen the bank’s interbank trading on currencies and Fixed Income for visibility and profit.
  • Generate daily report on the International FX market and Fixed Income Market.
  • Meeting customer needs on all Currencies and Fixed Income transactions.
  • Manage the Fixed Income portfolio by dealing in Treasury bills/bonds, intermediating in deals etc.
  • Negotiate and transact on Fixed Income and Inter-bank securities.
  • Solicit and market FOREX services, Derivatives and other Funds Management products to customers and Manage Forex Exposures.
  • Create, Develop and structure a wide range of financial products.
  • Manage Relationships, negotiate and transact FOREX deals (swaps, forwards., etc.) with correspondent banks and co-ordinate settlement.
  • Monitor and analyze developments in the environment and their implications on FOREX deals for management information.
  • Liaise with Foreign Operations Group in ensuring that FOREX books are accurately and promptly kept.
  • Perform daily market survey, analysis and report on competitor's actions and general market outlook.
  • Provide market information by monitoring and analyzing developments in the environment and their implications on placements portfolio and money markets.
  • Submit returns to CENTRAL BANK or equivalent as required and ensure accuracy of financial records, timely and accurate rendition of returns to statutory authorities.
  • Appraise subordinates’ performance monthly.
  • Develop and market new Fixed Income products.
  • Provide support and Information to management decision making process.
  • Coach/Mentor subordinates on deal structuring and trading and develop-and train other business units in Foreign Exchange Trading to ensure efficient posting, quoting and reporting on FX operations.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Superior.
