Job Description

FHP Manufacturing, located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is a joint venture between Robert Bosch (BOSCH Group) and Carrier Corporation.

FHP Manufacturing is a leader in the production of geothermal and water source heat pumps, providing some of the most efficient heating and cooling comfort solutions in the industry.

The Copper Depot Team Lead is responsible for coordinating and overseeing daily operations related to copper material preparation, including cutting, bending, brazing, kitting, and ensure CNC machines used in copper tube forming and cutting are properly operated and maintained in the manufacturing of HVAC equipment. This position ensures safety, quality, and efficiency standards are met while leading and mentoring a team to achieve production targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, including the proper use of PPE and safe handling of copper and brazing equipment.
  • Conduct in-process quality checks, including inspection of brazed joints, ensuring compliance with internal and customer specifications.
  • Lead and coordinate daily operations within the Copper Depot to ensure production schedules are met.
  • Assign tasks and monitor team member performance, providing coaching and support as needed.
  • Oversee and perform brazing operations, ensuring strong, leak-free joints in accordance with HVAC standards.
  • Operate and oversee CNC machines used for copper tubing cutting, bending, and forming, ensuring precision and maintenance adherence.
  • Train team members in proper brazing techniques, safety procedures, and departmental work instructions.
  • Monitor inventory levels and report material shortages to avoid production delays.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve issues impacting quality or throughput.
  • Maintain workplace cleanliness and organization following 5S and Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and actively participate in problem-solving and root cause analysis.
  • Serve as a trainer and mentor to new associates and those undergoing cross-training.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1 years of manufacturing experience in assembly, brazing, or CNC operations
  • Prior leadership or team lead experience
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and work orders
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to motivate and lead a diverse team of 10-15 associates
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Must be flexible and available to work overtime as needed
  • Physically able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Additional Information

  • Understand and apply BPS (Bosch Production System) principles to drive efficiency and support on-time delivery.
  • Ensure all activities follow OSHA regulations and safety standards.
  • Read and interpret work instructions, drawings, and Engineered-to-Order Special Handling Sheets (SHS).
  • Build HVAC units using manual/power tools, measuring devices, and perform inspections, tests, and labeling.
  • Identify and report non-conforming material and maintain documentation according to quality standards.
  • Be flexible to assist in other departments or tasks as business needs require.
