The School of Sustainability (SOS) in the Rob Walton College of Global Futures (CGF) at Arizona State University invites applications for two full-time, benefit-eligible, academic year (9-month) Teaching Professor positions in Sustainability (all ranks considered) with an anticipated start in Fall 2026. These appointments are non-tenure track and will be made at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor, Teaching Associate Professor or Teaching Professor (full rank), commensurate with the candidate’s experience and accomplishments. This appointment is for one academic year, and subsequent academic year renewals are contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the school. The successful candidate will teach eight courses per academic year, typically four courses per semester, with all or most of this teaching occurring at the undergraduate level. The courses will mostly be taught on the Tempe campus (with the potential for teaching on the Downtown, West Valley, or Polytechnic campuses as well) and asynchronously online. In addition to teaching, service on school or university committees is expected.
Applicants should have a broad grasp of sustainability as an interdisciplinary field and experience in college or university level teaching and student mentoring. Ideally, applicants will also have had some research or professional experience in the field of sustainability. Areas of interest or expertise within sustainability are open, including (but not limited to): environmental or ecological science, environmental policy, energy systems, sustainable food systems, climate change, corporate/organizational sustainability, and sustainable urbanism/planning. Successful candidates will contribute heavily to the pedagogical mission of the SOS, including teaching general studies sustainability courses to students with a wide array of interests and majors. Therefore, candidates with a passion for clearly communicating sustainability to the general public and a capacity for dynamic and compelling pedagogy are highly encouraged to apply.
We especially seek candidates who have a compelling vision for teaching and student mentoring that aligns with the mission of the School of Sustainability and ASU’s Charter for a New American University.
