Work Schedule: This is a 24/7 on-site role with rotating shifts, including night shifts. The position offers two days off per week, which may not always fall on weekends. Flexibility and adaptability to a continuous shift-based environment are essential. There is no hybrid work arrangement for this position and it requires working onsite five days a week.

Purpose

The Teaching Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of English Online by analysing student booking patterns to optimise teaching schedules while balancing customer needs with cost efficiency. The role is responsible for planning and deploying English Online's teaching resources, ensuring their effective utilisation across a range of products and projects. By monitoring and evaluating projects, using quantitative data to meet client requirements, and collaborating with the Teaching Excellence Team, the post holder will support accurate data reporting and ensure compliance with service level agreements.

In addition, the Teaching Operations Manager will lead the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new English Online teachers, supporting academic quality, compliance with British Council policies, and the successful growth of the English Online business.

Role Accountabilities

As a Teaching Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end planning and delivery of teaching operations for English Online. This includes managing teacher resourcing, timetabling, capacity planning, and service delivery to ensure operational targets and service level agreements are consistently achieved.

You will work closely with internal teams, including Sales and Customer Service, Corporate Partnerships, Teaching Excellence, and Tech/Product, to forecast demand, improve operational processes, and enhance the quality of teaching delivery. Using data and insights, you will monitor performance, support business improvements, report on key operational metrics, and ensure the accurate management of teaching schedules and student booking data.

The role also includes leading a Teaching Delivery Coordinator, communicating operational updates to teachers, and ensuring all activities are delivered in line with British Council policies, compliance requirements, and corporate risk management standards.

Essential Qualifications & Experience and Skills

  • Experience in operations management with responsibility for service delivery and resource planning.
  • Experience managing costs and operational budgets.
  • Experience driving business process improvements using data and insights.
  • Experience managing or supporting hourly-paid and/or non-permanent worker.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience identifying opportunities to improve business processes through technology.
  • Experience identifying operational risks and implementing appropriate mitigation measures..
