Job Description

NYU Tandon is seeking a Teaching Assistant for MD-UY 2014: Foundations in Digital Culture, a 4-credit course surveying the historical and critical foundations of digital media art and culture, from Fluxus and net art to VR, bioart, and computational media.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with lead instructor Ruby Thelot

  • Lead a weekly recitation section (~2 hours/week)

  • Support student learning and discussion of course material

  • Hold limited office hours / be available for student questions as needed

  • No course development or lecture preparation required

Applicants should have:

  • Familiarity with digital/new media art, critical theory, or media studies

  • Comfortable facilitating discussion-based sessions, crits and carrying out grading

  • Prior TA or teaching experience a plus, but not required

Details

  • Time commitment: 1.50 hours/week (recitation), plus minimal prep

  • Format: In-person at Metrotech Campus, Brooklyn

  • Compensation is in accordance with NYU's bargaining agreement with ACT-UAW Local 7902.

  • Schedule: Wednesdays 6PM - 7:50PM throughout fall 2026.

Qualifications

  • A completed graduate degree (Masters, PhD) or a college degree (BS, BA, BFA) and ten years of relevant professional experience will be considered.
  • Authorization to work for any employer in the United States, NYU is not an E-verified employer.
