Job Description

St. Casimir School, located in Baltimore, Maryland, is seeking Substitute Teachers for the 2026-2027 academic school year. The Elementary Substitute Teacher is responsible for the direct supervision and instruction of students during a teacher's absence. The successful candidate will follow lesson plans and curriculum materials provided by the principal or absent teacher, assign and collect homework as needed, maintain classroom order, and oversee student attendance. The Substitute Teacher will foster a safe, supportive, and productive learning environment while ensuring continuity of instruction.

Essential Functions

• Participate in the active supervision of students at all times.
• Provide instruction to students by following lesson plans prepared by the regular teacher.
• Follow the teacher's daily routine and fulfill duties outside the classroom, such as morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up, as needed.
• Work collaboratively with other teachers, assistants, staff members, and administrators.
• Interact effectively and respond to communications in a professional, empathetic, and timely manner.

Position Qualifications

• Degree in Elementary Education preferred.
• Current MSDE certification preferred.
• Knowledge of child development and student supervision.
• Experience teaching in an elementary school setting.
