About this position:

Location: Owensboro, KY

Compensation: $50,000 - $52,000/year

Hours: First shift, 40 hours per week. This is a year-round position.

This position is responsible for the academic, social-emotional, cognitive, language and physical growth and development of all children in their classroom. This may include any school-age child as well as adolescents/youth.

The teacher develops culturally appropriate, weekly lesson plans according to the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) and implements age-appropriate activities to nurture and stimulate all domains of children’s development in their care. The teacher provides a safe physical and developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects the students’ learning and growth.

The teacher provides effective leadership and management to uphold KYUMH’s Trauma-Informed Care Culture for clients and staff.  The ideal candidate would have respect and appreciation for diverse cultures, be passionate about serving youth and be calm under stress.

For this position, we require:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) certification or Teaching English as a second language certification from other appropriate accrediting body.

Preferred education and experience:

• Fluent in English and Spanish.

To hold this position, you must:

• Have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Pass a background check, including federal and state fingerprint checks.
• Pass a drug test pre-employment as well as random drug screening.
• Be certified in CPR/First Aid (training provided).
• Maintain ORR required vaccinations.
