Job Description

Cardinal Shehan School, located in Baltimore, Maryland, is seeking a qualified, full-time Social Studies Teacher for the 2026–2027 academic school year. The Middle School Social Studies Teacher would be responsible for all lessons in Social Studies to students in grades 6th-8th. The middle school Social Studies teacher is responsible for implementing daily standard-based lessons to support student’s acquisition and application of the Social Studies curriculum aligned with the standards of the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans for grades 6–8
  • Teach topics such as U.S. and world history, civics, geography, economics, and government
  • Incorporate primary sources, multimedia, and inquiry-based learning to deepen students’ understanding
  • Use a variety of assessment methods to evaluate student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Promote a classroom culture of respect, collaboration, and intellectual curiosity
  • Integrate technology and cross-curricular connections into lessons when appropriate
  • Maintain regular communication with parents, guardians, and colleagues regarding student progress and classroom activities
  • Participate in school events, professional development, and collaborative planning
  • Lead a school club
  • Uphold the school’s mission, values, and policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned from time to time

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary or Secondary Education (concentration in History/Social Studies preferred).
  • Current MSDE certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience (teaching middle/high school Social Studies preferred).
  • Experience in a Catholic School setting is preferred.
  • Must be comfortable with technology to include integration in daily lessons.
  • Must have a commitment to Catholic School education.

Pay Range: $48,000 - $54,000, Annualized
