Job Description

Archbishop Spalding High School is accepting applications for a Social Studies/AP Macroeconomics Teacher position for the 2026–2027 academic year. The High School Social Studies / AP Macroeconomics Teacher will have a strong desire to teach in a diverse, faith-based, nurturing environment. Candidates must be knowledgeable about current instructional strategies and be skilled at creating lessons with high levels of student engagement for students in grades 9-12. This is a full-time, benefit eligible, 10-month teaching position.

Essential Functions

  • Plan and implement Daily lessons for students based on school curriculum.
  • Manage all aspects of the classroom (including but not limited to: instruction, discipline, communication etc.).
  • Perform assigned teacher duties on a rotating schedule with rest of the faculty.
  • Attend all faculty meetings and in-services.
  • Participate in school community events (including but not limited to: graduations, award ceremonies, festivals, and open houses).
  • Communicate student progress with parents through in person and online systems.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a Social Studies– or Economics-related field (e.g., History, Government and Politics)
  • Qualifications for MSDE secondary certification
  • In-depth knowledge of a variety of Social Studies disciplines; strong preference for familiarity with AP courses such as American Government and Macroeconomics
  • Pedagogical expertise that encourages critical thinking, writing, and reading
  • Appreciation for and willingness to collaborate with team members
  • Strong proficiency in utilizing digital and online platforms, specifically Google Suite and Canvas
  • Enthusiasm for working with adolescents
  • Deep understanding of adolescent pedagogy and development
  • Desire to grow through reflective professional practice
  • Desire to build a community of connection and belonging

Pay Range: $42,500 - $85,000, Annualized
