REPORTS TO: Head Principal
EVALUATION: Evaluations conducted as defined in West Virginia Board of Education Policy 5310 and PCBOE Policy 3220.
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
CONTRACT: 200-day contract

Term of employment: Term of employment shall be 200 days each academic year (July 1 through June 30).
Pursuant to WV Code §18A-1-1:
"Classroom teacher" means a professional educator who has a direct instructional or counseling relationship with students and who spends the majority of his or her time in that capacity.
The Science Teacher is a classroom teacher responsible for providing high-quality instruction that promotes student achievement and growth in science. The teacher develops and delivers standards-based instruction aligned with the West Virginia College- and Career-Readiness Standards, creates and maintains a safe and engaging learning environment, and supports students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development. The teacher may be assigned to teach science courses consistent with the employee's certification and the instructional needs of Pocahontas County Schools.
The Science Teacher performs duties consistent with the expectations of a professional educator as defined by West Virginia Code, West Virginia Board of Education policy, and Pocahontas County Board of Education policy.

Performing Assigned Responsibilities: Carries out other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal, Superintendent, or designee in support of the educational mission of Pocahontas County Schools.
