Job Title: Teacher of English

Location: Lowestoft Sixth Form

Hours: 0.3 FTE - 11.1 Hours

Contract: Fixed Term till 31st December 2026.

Salary: Lecturers Scale (£35,112.48 - £41600.00 FTE)

Join our successful Sixth Form team as a Teacher of English, inspiring students to develop their analytical, communication and critical thinking skills while achieving their academic ambitions.

You will deliver engaging and high-quality lessons across A Level English Language, English Literature or related qualifications, fostering a passion for the subject and supporting learners to achieve outstanding outcomes. Working as part of a dedicated team, you will contribute to curriculum development, learner support, enrichment activities and the wider life of the Sixth Form.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable teacher who can motivate students, promote academic excellence and prepare learners for progression to higher education and future careers.

Key needs from you and the role;

• A degree in English, English Literature, English Language or a related subject.
• A recognised teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
• Experience teaching English, preferably at Level 3 or A Level.
• Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for English.
• Ability to plan and deliver engaging, inclusive and high-quality lessons.
• Experience of assessing learner progress and implementing strategies to improve achievement.
• Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to promoting high expectations and positive learner outcomes.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative curriculum team.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.

**East Coast College require all staff to hold a minimum Level 2 or equivalent in English and maths, and be able to evidence this.

Please note, candidates who secure a teaching position, but do not currently hold a teacher qualification are required to obtain this within their first three years of employment. This can be provided by the college, however, the employee will be required to sign a commitment form, where they will be eligible to pay fees back should they fail to complete the qualification, or exit the organisation within the committed timeframe. Employees can secure their own funding such as Student Finance for the qualifications should they wish.
