Salary Range: $65,400.00 - $88,000.00 Salary/year
Position Summary:
The Lower School Teacher will plan, organize, and implement engaging and developmentally appropriate instructional programs to support students' academic, social, and emotional growth. The teacher will create a dynamic learning environment that fosters curiosity, collaboration, and a love for learning. This role involves working closely with colleagues, parents, and students to ensure a positive and productive educational experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction and Curriculum Development
- Design and deliver creative and effective lessons, activities, and assessments that align with the school’s curriculum and learning objectives.
- Develop and implement units of study that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and active student engagement.
- Utilize relevant technology and innovative teaching strategies to enhance learning.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' diverse needs.
Classroom Environment
- Establish and communicate clear objectives and expectations for behavior and learning.
- Prepare and maintain an organized, welcoming, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Monitor and document students' academic and social progress through visual displays and other means.
Student Assessment and Feedback
- Evaluate student performance through classwork, homework, projects, and assessments.
- Provide timely, constructive, and meaningful feedback to students and parents.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and development.
- Prepare and share reports as required by school policies and regulations.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work collaboratively with grade-level colleagues, specialists, and school staff to support student learning and development.
- Actively participate in team meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents about student progress, achievements, and areas for growth.
Support of Enrollment Management
- Actively engage in the school’s enrollment management efforts by participating in tours, open houses, and other admissions events.
- Showcase the lower school program’s curriculum, classroom environment, and unique benefits to prospective families.
- Cultivate positive relationships with current families to promote retention and word-of-mouth referrals.
- Collaborate with the admissions team to create a welcoming and inclusive experience for prospective students and families.
Professional Responsibilities
- Stay current with best practices in education, including teaching strategies, curriculum standards, and relevant research.
- Participate in extracurricular activities such as clubs, sporting events, and school-wide initiatives.
- Attend and contribute to school events, including after-school, evening, and weekend activities as required.
- Uphold school policies and ensure compliance with regulations.
Additional Duties:
- Manage student behavior effectively by establishing and enforcing classroom norms and procedures.
- Support the school’s mission and values through active participation in community-building efforts.
- Undertake other duties as assigned to contribute to the success of the school.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
- Meet professional teacher educational requirements of the school and state
- Multiple subject or single subject credential or certification if teaching a specialized subject
- Relevant teaching experience
- Knowledge of relevant technology
