Reports to: Principal

Salary Range $48,703- $100,722 per year

Employment Terms: Full-Time, 10-Month (one year position)

Bargaining Unit: NEW LONDON EDUCATION ASSOCIATION (NLEA)

Provides instruction in Biology and is responsible for facilitating student learning, academic growth, and achievement in the biological sciences during assigned instructional periods.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Delivers engaging, standards-aligned Biology instruction that develops students' understanding of life sciences, scientific inquiry, and real-world applications.
  • Plans and facilitates laboratory investigations and hands-on learning experiences while maintaining appropriate laboratory safety procedures.
  • Assesses student learning, monitors academic progress, and uses data to differentiate instruction and provide targeted support.
  • Creates a safe, inclusive, and student-centered classroom environment that promotes curiosity, critical thinking, collaboration, and scientific literacy.
  • Collaborates with colleagues, families, and school staff to support student achievement and advance school and district instructional goals.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must hold a valid Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) educator certificate with an endorsement in one or more of the following endorsement areas: 030

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Haitian Creole highly desirable.
